    Tyler Whaley Vs Bradley Glatthaar

Wednesday, May 14, 2008, 12:43 PM EST [General]

So Cutler had Wahley on his show this morning a feel good story to be sure, but that may be all it is. There is a reason he had to walk onto O$U. We can all start chanting Tyler Tyler, Tyler or we can look at the history of the player.

Lets start at the draft board numbers for Wahley and Glatthaar. (Glatthaar is more of a FB than he was ever a RB).

                                          Wahley                                                Glatthaar

Height                           6'1"                                                      6'0" (college says he is 5'10")

    Weight                          265                                                      242

    225 Lb Benchpress   34                                                        26

    Veritcal                         N/A                                                       32.5"

    Broad Jump                 N/A                                                      9.1'

    20 yard Shuttle             N/A                                                      4.19

    3 Cone Drill                  N/A                                                       7.14

    40 yard dash                4.78                                                     4.74

    20 yard dash                2.75                                                     2.55

    10 yard dash                2.63                                                     1.58

Whaley is bigger, and stronger but has no speed to get to people who come off the edge like the Julius Peppers of the NFL. But these are numbers from one day. We all know people sometimes do very well on this and others do very poorly. So lets look at the college numbers.

    KO Return yards               10                            0

Granted Glatthaar had more Full time playing availability he was also sharing time with 2 other backs who also had 1,000 yd careers (Greg Moore 1,013 aslo signed by the Bengals, & Butler Benton 1,736 who hasn't even been picked up by anyone). Whaley is said to be good at blocking people whereas Glatthaar is known for running them over and giving the Offensive line the extra push for shortage situations.  In High School Whaley was a OT and a DT to a team that went to regional finals and 2 semifinals. He was also a member of the all state team his senior year. Glatthaar was a 3 year starter who helped win the state championship in '02 & '03. He set the record for yards in '03 with 248yds and 3 TDs. He was also a member of the all state team his senior year. But hey it is only May, so we will see what the Bengals look like when Traiing Camp rolls around.

and don't forge to add "and Glathaar when to Elder and UC so he's automatically better'
    horrible opinion.

This has nothing to do with the fact he is from Elder. I could care less about all the teams from the GCL in local Highschool football. I perfer the GMC. This was a point using the numbers that can't lie. With Whaley's amount of carries do we know he can even hold on to a football when he is hit?
