If Joe Namath is in the HOF, Ken Anderson should be in there as well. Anderson tops Namath in nearly every statistical category for QBs. More TDs (197 vs 173), a better completion percentage (59.3% vs 50.1%) and a better rating (81.9 vs 65.5). Total completions? Yup, Anderson takes that too (2654 vs 1886).
Yes, Namath has one thing that Anderson does not. A Super Bowl victory. In that Super Bowl, Namath went 17/28 for 206 yards and 0 TDs. Not bad, but not HOF worthy either.
So why is Anderson snubbed and Namath is praised as one of the best QBs of all time, even though he threw more INTs than he did TDs over the course of his career? Ladies and gentlemen, I give you the New York Media. Namath had movie star looks, a "joe cool" personality and was very popular with the ladies. His "gutsy" guaranteed victory - which was more than likely just a drunken blast at a reporter - is constantly mentioned as one of the greatest moments in NFL history.
But the HOF isn't supposed to be about press clippings. It's not supposed to be about attitude or popularity. It's about rewarding performance. No, Ken Anderson's statistics don't measure up to some of the QBs already in The Hall, but they surpass Namath's - and considering they played in roughly the same era, that speaks volumes.
The assault charges that led to the Bengals releasing him have been dropped - a reinstatement to the NFL is likely to follow. The Bengals would be STUPID to not go after him. He would likely come cheap given his past problems, and with OCHO COMPLAINO being the bi-polar lunatic that he is I think it's a good idea to get as many wide receivers on this team as possible.
No, Henry isn't a choir boy. But he is the best #3 receiver in the league. I would have no problem with them signing Henry. I don't go down there on Sundays to watch humanitarians play football. I want a winner, and if he can stay out of trouble and on the field (by now he must have learned his lesson, right? lol) Henry can help us win.
What a CIRCUS!!!!! Get your tickets folks....Step right up. It's the CHAD JOHNSON & DREW ROSENHAUS SHOW!!! . Performing this week only - see a bipolar receiver talk out of both sides of his mouth! AMAZING! Will he practice or won't he practice? Is it the ankle, the back.....or some mysterious ailment!?! Who knows!??! See Chad's pudgy-faced agent claim the Bengals have a piece of paper that proves the Bengals KNOW about Chad's injured ankle. See the Bengals' staff admit to that piece of paper - claiming they wrote it to Chad but the bipolar receiver and his pudgy-faced agent refused treatment because there was nothing wrong! Round and Round we go!!!!! Where it stops nobody knows !!!!!!!
And for the finale.......This you won't believe......Known to be Improbable! Assumed to be Unachievable! Thought to be impossible! In a disagreement with a player, the Bengals organization is proving to be more intelligent, more reasonable AND considerably less-insane than their counterpart !!!!!
Chad - You've already made a mockery of the game with your antics. A mockery of the Bengals with your statements. Now you're making a mockery of yourself with your behavior.
You claim you like to keep people laughing. Well, you are keeping us laughing. But it's not because you're funny. And it's not because you're entertaining. It's because you're a JOKE.
Finally !!!! The normally reserved Carson says what needs to be said about Chad. After stating that he's happy with the attitude and mindset of the team, when asked about the possible circus coming to town with Chad's arrival Carson said....."You know what? I have no idea what's going to happen. What he's not going to do is come in and break apart what we have going right now. That sure as hell is not going to happen."
No, that's not exactly throwing down the gauntlet. But for Carson, who rarely says anything quoteworthy, that's exactly what it is. It sounds like he's taking charge and if Chad comes to camp and causes problems, Carson's going to grab him by the back of his neck and show him the door.
It irritates me that Chad is still on this team, but if he does come back he better shut his mouth and play ball. Yeah, I know - Wishful Thinking.
