Just for fun...prompted by comments on Trent's blog this morning, because *my* first rock concert was Van Halen, the 5150 tour!  Tell the truth, even if it's embarrassing!!

Dick Clark had a tour that was called " The American Bandstand tour" (I think therefore it must be). I was in college and one of the acts was Sam the Sham and the Pharaohs. There were several other groups but this is the only one I can remember. My first rock concert. Mr. R may even remember this group.

By the way, my son-in-law is big Van Halen fan. He went to concert at US Bank arena and left before it was over. Said it was no where close to the Van Halen of old. I just reminded him that maybe he was getting old.

This is really going to show my age--Jethro Tull was my first rock concert. I believe that I saw Peter Frampton a week or so later

Was that the first tour with Sammy Hagar? I may have seen that one as well. I think my first concert was either Triumph (Fight the Good Fight!), although it may have been Foreigner. Both were so good I can't remember which band I saw first. I think my third concert was the Ozzy Osbourne "Diary of a Madman" tour. It was the concert where he allegedly bit the head off a bat. (I've always been skeptical because I never saw him actually do it.) Ozzy put on a good show, although guitarist Randy Rhodes was awesome. I believe Rhodes did in a plane or helicopter crash later that year.
