Want to Win Now, Get the Checkbook

Krivsky, Bowden were scapegoats for losing teams. But the reality is if you want to win now, you got to pay for it. The Cubs spent a lot of money last year and it paid dividends with a playoff appearance. Look at the Detroit Tigers. In 2003, they lost over a 100 games and the next year they started to increase their payroll. Three years later, they are in the World Series. The other route, if you want to use the "small market" excuse, you trade the kids. I say don't mortgage the future. How come teams like Detroit and Toronto have the dough and this team in a baseball town cries poverty?
