    Florida Marlins vs. Cincinnati Reds

The Cincinnati Reds look to complete a four game sweep of the Florida Marlins today when they send pitcher Matt Belisle to the mound. Belisle is no stranger to losing. There really is no other way to write it. Belisle is 1 and 3 on the season with a 7.45 ERA. He has given up 19 runs in 19.1 innings pitched. He's also given up 3 home runs in that same amount of time. To put this into contrast for fans, pitcher Brandon Webb for the Arizona Diamondbacks has given up 3 home runs in 55.1 innings pitched. Yeah, Belisle has been that bad.

The Marlins counter with pitcher Andrew Miller. Miller isn't exactly an MLB stud himself, but he has been much better this season than Matt Belisle. Miller does have a record of 3 and 2 even though his ERA is a ridiculous 6.52. The good thing about Miller is that he has pitched 38.2 innings and has only given up 4 home runs.

The road team is 6 and 0 in umpire Mike Everitt's last 6 games behind home plate when the Florida Marlins are playing.

The last trend I've listed might require too much analysis. In reality it doesn't matter what Everitt does in this game because the truth is that Matt Belisle is not going to lead the Cincinnati Reds to the Promised Land.

It's just not going to happen. As good as the Reds have been during this series, Belisle is a tough pitcher-pill to swallow. Sure, he's at home, but he's not all that good.

The Mike Everitt stat might be the most extraneous thing I've ever heard. What about during certain moon phases? You silly gamblers....
