What a shame! The starting pitcher for the Chiefs (Cubs) had no control.
Look at the video and after the Chiefs manager (actually interim as this guy is subbing for Ryne Sandberg) shoves the Dayton manager (Donnie Scott) the starting pitcher for the Chiefs tries to fire a fastball into the Dayton dugout.
He had such bad control that he nailed a fan in the second row and the fight broke out.
Two players were hit in the batter's box and there was a spikes up slide before all of this broke loose.
The second batter of the game for Dayton, Zach Cozart was nailed in the ear hole by a fastball that took him down. Following that there was a collision between the starting pitcher and the second baseman from the Chiefs that ended up breaking the 2nd baseman's leg. Then the hero from Thursday night was hit by a pitch and he went into second spikes up to break up the double play.
By the way - the starting pitcher was arrested and booked for assault and will appear in court Friday at 1pm.
The game was delayed for a hour and ten minutes while the Midwest League determined what to do. During that time the Peoria players also went into the visiting locker romm amd tore it up pretty badly.
