OK, so got home last night with the myriad of sports viewing choices available to me I did the only natural thing, I watched a movie. Its not that Hockey, NBA playoffs, and baseball aren't worth watching, it's just that right now, there is absolutely nothing going on that I really care about.
It is a sad state of affairs that my first true blog post; I could not bring myself to watch very much of what sports offered. I did catch about a quarter of the Spurs - Hornets last night, but that was all I could bring myself to watch.
300
So, on to the movie. I finally watched 300. That was a little disappointing. Over stylized. And the final death scene, really seemed to miss out on exactly what the Spartans were about. Yes they died on the field. But they didn't really go down fighting, they just died. It was though the director decided that it was time for the warriors to die, therefore they just forgot all of the greatness they had displayed on the battlefield prior to the death scene and just gave up and allowed themselves to be killed. The Battle of Thermopylae is one of those great times of heroism the crowning moment of Spartan Culture. For me, the ridiculous, over-the-top, interpretation seems to minimalize the truth of what that moment means to history.
And of course after watching it, I felt I needed an hour long shower to wash the gay off.
Yes I realize this is not a new movie, but I just got to it.
Reds
Apparently not only did the Reds play last night, they also managed to win the game. Good for them. Ryan Freel got his fourth straight start and 7th hit in those four games. So, what are the odds of him being benched today?
Dunner hit his 5th home run of the season. And that is all that I have to say about that.
NBA
I watched about a quarter of the Spurs - Hornets game. CP3 is a flat out stud for a 12 year old. Manu needs some Rogaine, that bald spot seems to be growing.
I watched enough to decide I would rather go to bed.
