Mark Berry's father, Harvey, passed away early Saturday morning in Glendale, Ariz. The funeral will be private.

Berry missed Sunday's game at New York. Bench coach Chris Speier served as third base coach against the Mets.

Last week Ken Griffey Jr. lost his best friend, Frank King. King's funeral was scheduled for today.

Norris Hopper's father, Alex Gonzalez's grandmother, Mike Stanton's brother and Kent Mercker's mother have died since spring training began. The Reds also lost Joe Nuxhall, Bob Howsam and Chief Bender since last season.
