The hero: Jeremy Affeldt came into the seventh inning with the bases loaded and two outs and got No. 3 hitter David Dellucci to ground into a fielder's choice and end the inning.
The play: After Anderson High School graduate Jensen Lewis walked the first batter he faced, Brandon Phillips, with one out in the eighth inning, and then Joey Votto popped a ball up behind third base. Leftfielder David Dellucci was playing Votto dep and the ball ticked off third baseman Casey Blake's glove and in for a double. Two walks later, the Reds had the 4-3 lead.

The stat: 10-11. With Friday's victory, new general manager Walt Jocketty may have saved his job. The Reds have won 10 of the team's 21 games with Jocketty at the helm. Wayne Krivsky was fired after the team started the season 9-12, with owner Bob Castellini giving the team's record as the reason Krivsky was axed.
The lesson: Give Johnny Cueto some time. He's still got great stuff, as five innings of no-hit ball against the Indians will tell you. He gave up three home runs in the sixth inning, but still pitched well against a tough opponent. With his stuff, he's just not going to get beat much by minor league hitters, he has to learn at the big league level. That's happening.
Dusty said: "This is a tough part of the schedule. You've got to respond or shrivel up and crawl away. Our guys have responded. We're playing good baseball."
Next: Aaron Harang (2-5, 3.32) goes up against Fausto Carmona (4-1, 2.40) in what shockingly looks like the second-best pitching matchup of the series on Saturday at 3:55 p.m. The game will be nationally televised by Fox.
