* Got here a little later than usual. Had errands I had to run before I head down to Georgetown for the next couple of weeks. Will be getting up and taking off bright and early tomorrow morning. That means little baseball other than what I can catch on the TV at the Fairfield Inn.
* Participated in the Reds Summer Wiffleball Tournament this morning, brought to you in part by 1530 Homer -- and our Homer team represented itself well -- we went 1-1-1 -- a win, a loss and a forfeit, so we were probably 1-2, but we gave up that one game because we had so much stuff to do the rest of the day, and we were just there for fun.
In the first game, we played guys who have played in several of these kind of tournaments. For the most part, they were all good guys, except their pitcher took the game very, very seriously. Very seriously. And he was good -- we couldn't hit him at all. But, well, I bored them to sleep with my inability to throw strikes and we finished 0-0 before heading to home run derby to settle it.
Nobody hit any in the first round. I hit one in the second and they tied. And then we went to a one-on-one home run derby and I hit two and they managed one. The pitcher was hot. We weren't really being all that serious, but when he got mad, it made beating them much better.
The second game we lost to Team Zissou -- and they were cool. I knew when I heard their name and when one of the guys made a joke from Homer at the Bat, it would be a fun game. The Sports Kitten drove in our only run of that game, but we had a blast.
All in all, another great event by Charley Frank and the Reds Community Fund.
* Wow, is Brad Hawpe putting ona show in BP. He hit one just between the stands and the power stack that may have bounced out of the stadium.
* Booo... we're supposed to get thunderstorms. And they don't expect to start on time. I may skip out. I'm not sure.
* Well, it's 80s Night, and the TV guys are playing it up.
Here's Jim Day:
and Jeff Piecoro
* First pitch is scheduled for 7:55.

I'll miss the home-game blogging, Trent!
