Bengals rookie receiver Andre Caldwell didn’t think he’d go through a full practice on Wednesday and ran out onto the field in just shorts and no helmet.
Quickly once he got on the field he was told to get back to the locker room and get his shoulder pads and helmet.
“I thought I was just going to run some routes without my uniform and then they told me to go get suited up and ready for practice,” Caldwell said.
Caldwell, out since the Aug. 17 preseason game against Detroit with turf toe, went through the full practice.
“I finally got back on the field and I hope to practice and get in game shape and hopefully get in the game,” Caldwell said. “I was anxious to show what I can do and get practicing again.”
A third-round pick out of Florida, Caldwell caught three passes for 22 yards in the preseason, and also averaged 23.3 yards on three kickoff returns.
Also out since the Aug. 17 game with turf toe is fellow third-round pick, defensive tackle Pat Sims. Sims was walking without a boot and said he’s feeling much better.
