    Bengals-Ravens 3Q 9.7

BALTIMORE -- Much of the same, really.

Just saw Johnathan Ogden in the press box. Huge man. The Bengals could use him.

Third turnover. Utecht gets the first down and then fumbles. Bobbie Williams kinda hit him in the chest and he fell down.

    Delay.

Challenge. You challenge, but not the one last one? The only way you win is if you say he didn't have possession, but still you punt.

Looks to me like a clear catch, fumble, return.

The ruling is he never had possession. Time to punt. But better than giving them the ball at the 34.

That's a big swing. A really nice punt by Larson, your 2008 Bengals MVP. Ball at the 7. 59-yard swing. That's good. But it's still Ravens ball.

Geathers gambled and just missed the pick 6, but Flacco completes it right over him and Le'Ron McClain makes the catch and picks up 11.

This looks like the nail for the coffin, and the Ravens are only on the 31.

It's now 3&9 from the 49 -- if they convert this... well, I said it was over logn ago, so it's redundant that Flacco hits Mason for 10 to the Bengal 40.

There's a belief that the Reds always make first-time starting pitchers look good, perhaps the same could be said for the Bengals and first-time quarterbacks, starting with Brett Favre. There was also Eric Zeier and others. Can long-time Bengal watchers name all the others.

4&3 and they're going for it.

Nevermind. They wasted a timeout. They only have one left. Just take the delay and punt it.

Really nice play by Brandon Johnson, the Ravens turn it over at their own 34. Stating field position has been no problem for the Bengals.

     * The Bengals have not played well enough to be only a touchdown down.

    * David Jones will not return.

On second down, it appared nobody had an idea of what was supposed to happen. THere you go, they passsed on the first two downs to the sidelines.

Finally picked up a blitz and 22 yards to Chad Whatever.

3&6 at the Ravens' 40. Needless to say, big play.

FLAG. Delay. Second delay on 3rd down, also had a 6 men on the line flag on 3rd.

Palmer rush to the 36 -- 9 yards.

    4&2. Time out.

Back-to-back 4th down attempts by both teams.

Shotgun, shovel pass. No gain. Never had a shot.

    Ravens ball.

Fullbacks aren't supposed to be geting yardage on cutbacks, yet La'Ron McClain is.

    A "Let's Go Flacco" chant.

     * Dhani Jones taken to the locker room.

    * Johnathan Joseph down.

    * D. Jones went for an IV, he's expected to return.

    * J. Joseph ran off the field under his own power.

    * Really? A 38-yard touchdown run by Joe Flacco for a TD. Keith Rivers went too hard inside and slipped.

Willie Anderson getting handshakes from his new teammates.

One play left this quarter. Palmer and Houshmandzadeh like falling off a bike. It was so quick, they get another play.

Palmer's pass deflected by Ngata. So, the three part of the three-and-out in the last 10 seconds of the quarter. That's a new craptastic low.

Palmer got lucky, throwing it right at Terrell Suggs, who dropped it. End of the quarter.

One of the worst football games I've ever had the displeasure to watch.

Is Big Willie really so bad that he couldn't make this line better?

Once again the Bengals Launch the career of a rookie QB. The bottom line is the front office of the Bengals will always stand in the way of sustained success. Marvin lewis looks tired and beaten down simply because he has no support. How long til spring training?
