    Hue Jackson and Knuckleheads !!!!!!!!!

Friday, November 14, 2008, 04:40 AM EST [General]

I agree with this one.  Hue Jackson is a big time assistant coach who did a really good job with the Bengals.

Mike Preston's take on what Hue has meant to Baltimore is important.  His way of saying how much he meant to the Bengals and what he calls their ""knuckleheads"  is very interesting !

Jackson wasn't just their coach, but he also was their parent, psychologist, pastor, friend and consultant. At times, only Jackson could control the two knuckleheads.

    Foster..REALLY Strong !

Friday, November 14, 2008, 04:34 AM EST [General]

It was fun to talk to George Foster.  He even thanked me for asking a question, which isn't something you often get.  Sure, he admits having a regret at not hitting 500 home runs.  But, who wouldn't take his career.

I asked George why he wasn't a batting instructor.  He wants to be.  No one wants him.  How does that make sense ?  You think the power from the Big Red Machine might be able to communicate hitting ?  By the way, that no one includes the REDS.

As far as their reunion this weekend, like so many from those great teams, he talks about his teammates like they are family....like they are brothers.  That's so cool.

As far as the REDS, he didn't think they were "working out at all" when he watched them in spring training last year.  WOW !

Foster believes that one of the things that made the REDS special was the hard work they put in spring time, that paid off in July and August and September.  That the REDS were in shape for the long grind of the season.

He also believes that todays player is "too sensative."  So, Foster plays on one of the greatest teams of all time, and he says if you made a mistake, you heard about it in the dugout.  He says that guys don't do that today.

He was perhaps strongest about Pete.  He can't believe he's not in the Hall.

ET this morning at 7.  Why is ET on twice a week ?  A former player with common sense !!

Eric Crawford will throw in his two cents.  Louisville columnist with a good take on sports.  We'll talk about UC and U of L.  BIG GAME !  And that's cool to say that UC has a big game in November.

    One mans weekly predictions.

    PHILADELPHIA at Cincinnati
Perhaps the biggest disappointment of the season has been being denied the opportunity to see Chad "Johnson" Ocho Cinco wear a jersey with his new government-approved surname on the back

    Good For Chad !

Thursday, November 13, 2008, 04:38 AM EST [General]

I can't be the only one.  I've been waiting and waiting to see if Chad was going to loose it this year.  We all know the Bengals situation.  The man has been terrific.  Isn't it time to give PROPS to Chad for changing ?

This is very interesting.  Because of what Chad has said, we all thought that Ray Lewis was "the" influence on him.

Sounds like Donovan McNabb, who I'm a fan of....that's both as a player and person, had a lot to do with the NEW Chad.

Let's talk about this....this morning.  The CHANGED Chad.  Perhaps a positive sign in another awful Bengals season.

Don't kid yourself.  Chad still wants to be traded.  If you read the entire article, you will see it.

But, I respect how he's handling himself.

He took me in that direction, instead of thinking about, 'Oh, I'm tired of losing and I don't want to be here anymore,' but just thinking about, 'Man, a lot of people wish they were in your shoes just to have the ability to play in the NFL.' That kind of turned me around, and that's why I've been as positive as I have been this year, and even though we're losing, man, I've just been plugging away."

    Pretty Eagle !

Wednesday, November 12, 2008, 05:49 AM EST [General]

She is getting a ton of pub this week.  Is it all because of her husband who plays for the EAGLES ?

Kendra Wilkinson is spending the day with a hunky dude in a Las Vegas hotel room-and she isn't wearing her engagement ring!

Let's talk about it.  I made it an issue when I first started at WLW.  Ohio State should play UC.  Period !!!! Cut the nonsense.

If UK and U of L can play......and in the 80's I pushed that big time, why not UC and Ohio State.  That is unless OSU is afraid !

Reds RUMORS !  A beautiful thing this time of the year.  Something to chew on.  Good take from the Rocky Mountains.

Reds interested in big bat, not all three !!!!

The Cincinnati Reds, seeking a right-handed hitter to help balance their lineup, have definite interest in Rockies third baseman Garrett Atkins

UC's Take on last night !!!

CINCINNATI - The one-two punch of junior Deonta Vaughn (Indianapolis, Ind./Harmony Community) and senior Mike Williams (Camden, Ala./Wilcox Central) carried the University of Cincinnati's men's basketball team to a 73-61 victory over Northern Kentucky in its final exhibition game of the 2008-09 campaign at Fifth Third Arena on Tuesday evening.

Vaughn scored 16 of his game-high 24 points in the second half, which included three 3-pointers. Williams scored 14 points on 6-of-10 shooting from the field and grabbed a team-high five rebounds.

An alley-oop dunk from sophomore Larry Davis (Houston, Texas/Alief-Hastings) to sophomore Darnell Wilks (Nashville, Tenn./Pioneer Christian), followed by a Davis free throw, sealed a 73-61 triumph over Northern Kentucky, despite the fact that consecutive three-pointers by Northern Kentucky brought the Norse within nine points, 70-61, with 2:17 to play.

Vaughn single-handedly kept the Norse from closing within 10 points by scoring 14 consecutive points for the Bearcats to maintain the Cincinnati advantage at 15 points, 62-47, with 8:08 to play.

After a Davis lay-up gave UC its largest lead of the game, 48-30, the Norse slowly chipped away at their deficit and eventually closed to within 11 points, 51-40, with 12:42 to play.

UC opened the second half on a 13-6 run to extend its nine-point half time lead to 16 points with 16:43 remaining in the game. Ten of Cincinnati's 13 points during that span came in the paint as five different Bearcats contributed to the run.

UC led 31-22 at the break, despite going scoreless from the field for the final four minutes of the half. The Bearcats were 3-of-4 from the charity stripe and held the Norse scoreless during that span.

Tied at 18 apiece with 8:39 on the clock, Cincinnati worked its way inside out to widen its margin to eight points, 26-18, with 5:12 to play in the opening half. Williams made a contested lay-up and went one-of-two from the line during the run, while freshman Dion Dixon (Chicago, Ill./Crane Technical) hit a step-back three-pointer from the left wing before junior Steve Toyloy (West Palm Beach, Fla./Palm Beach Lakes) muscled in a bucket in the paint to cap off the run.

The Bearcats hit just two of eight shots from the 17:02 mark to the 10:55 mark as the Norse used a 12-5 run to take its first lead of the game, 15-14.

UC hit its first four shots en route to a 9-2 scoring run to start the game. The run included a trey by Vaughn and back-to-back turnaround jumpers from the block by Williams.

Cincinnati tips off the regular season on Sunday, Nov. 16, versus the South Dakota Coyotes in Fifth Third Arena. Game time for Sunday's contest has been changed from Noon to 6 p.m.
