Gannon Knights v UD from the Arena
Tuesday, November 11, 2008, 09:05 PM EST [General]
The final exhibition Dayton Flyers beat the D2 Gannon Knights tonight by a final score of 67-59 at the UD Arena. The boys will open the regular season at home against the Wofford Terriers (2007: 10-19, 5-13 in the Southern Conference) on Sunday the 16th at 7pm. Chris Wright, Devin Sercy, and Marcus Johnson all looked very good in their final tune-up. C Wright filled the stat sheet nicely:13pts, 5reb, 3asts, 3stls, and 2blks. The Flyers offense looks good when they get out and run however it goes very stagnant in the half court when they have to set up. Not enough motion in the motion offense. Their team defense has looked very stong in the two exhibition games. They are running a soft full court press in transition and go to their typical man-to-man that they have played for all of the Gregory era in the half court. Other stuff Sagarin Ratings - The first Sagarin rankings are out and the A10 has seven teams in the Top 100; they are : #17 X, #53 UMass, #54 St Joes, #80 Dayton, #87 Temple, #92 Rhode Island, and #97 Charlotte. These seem pretty arbitrary until the season starts but it is worth a look. http://www.usatoday.com/sports/sagarin/bkc0809.htm Out - London Warren is out. He sprained his ankle in the first exhibition game and is sitting out tonight Best Blog - The Blackburn review is a satrical blog on Flyers basketball. Definetly worth a look even if all you need is a laugh http://blackburnreview.blogspot.com Predictions - Picked by many to be third in the A10 behind X and Temple; I say that they find their footing before the conference schedule, finish second or third in the regular season and win the A10 tournament for a spot in the National Championship Tournament Must see - If you haven't seen it, I highly recommend "Kung Fu Panda"

UD starts in exhibition tonight

I enjoyed blogging on the LotD about the Dragons because I felt that I gave the Cincinnati Reds fan a little information about the farm team however I am thinking about posting about the Flyers but I am not sure it would be appreciated. Anyone interested in reading a Flyer blog? At any rate I will be in attendance tonight at the Arena as the Flyers take on the DIII Capital Crusaders at 8pm Tags:

Western Division Championship: The 2008 Western Division MWL Championship belongs to the Burlington Bees. The Bees swept the Cedar Rapids Kernals to claim the crown Season Series: While the Dragons have to get past the Silverhawks first to whom they lost nine of eleven games in the regular season; the Dayton boys fared well against the Bees this season wining four of the six games played Eastern Division Championship: After dropping the first game of the series to South Bend on Sunday at 5/3 Field; the Dragons and the Silverhawks were rained out on Monday night and will attempt to play Game Two on Tuesday night at South Bend Tags:
Dragons Sweep!
Thursday, September 4, 2008, 10:50 PM EST [General]
Miles Traveled: 262 miles on a bus that they had spent half of the season on after the Dragons won the first game 3-1 on Wednesday night in Dayton. Rosey: The nickname that they call Enario del Rosario and "rosey" he was on Thursday night. One week after throwing a complete game against the Lugnuts; Rosario tossed a gem going seven full innings giving up eight hits and three runs en route to a 7-3 Dayton win. Mop Up Duty: Aguido Gonzalez was lights out for the final two innings as he no hit the Lugnuts to earn his first save of the playoffs. At The Dish: Jacob Kahaulelio and Neftali Soto both went three for five on the night and accounted for five of the seven Dayton runs. Series MVP: Neftali Soto was four for nine with one run scored and three runs batted in for the Dragons in the two game series. He is hitting .444 in the playoffs and continues to be the best looking prospect Bad Weather: All other gamesin the Midwest League Playoffs were suspended due to inclement weather Next: South Bend leads West Michigan one game to none. If South Bend defeats the Whitecaps tomorrow they would play in Dayton on Saturday. If it takes two games to eliminate West Michigan, the Dragons would host them on Sunday night. If West Michigan beats South Bend twice then they would host the Dragons on Sunday and games two and three (if necessary) would be played in Dayton on Monday and Tuesday. Congratulations and Good Luck Tags:

That guy with Jose looks like he has the hots for him, I thought about that when I blogged it but didn't want to say anything (not that there's anything wrong with that). Anyway, here is the link to the original blog which contains a link to the article...it really is a good article. |

That my friend is our 1990 World Series MVP, Jose Rijo earlier this year in the Dominican Republic...a liberal blog site did a piece on him and beisbol as a way of life in DR a few months back. Rashied in Cincy |

No fans would be up and yelling when your team is beating the crap out of somebody. Of course, bengal fans would never know how to act because they are never up that much. Lucas oil is a 1st class facility and thats why indianapolis is hosting the superbowl. Go ahead and take you 0-6 team and your drunk fans. I would drink a lot to watching that crap. daniel |

well the Colts got smart and hired a GM if Mike Brown was to ever come around and do the same and give cincy a real reason to beleive things were going to be different then maybe i would Lets see 1984 to 1999 is about 15 years 1989 till when ever is 20 plus years wich is 5 plus years way to many. tim |

I hope you are right Matt...That O line has to play better for them to go 4-3 or 5-2. Rashied in Cincy |

Yeah, it's been a pretty brutal decade+ for Cincy sports! At least the area produces good college & high school action, so much for being a "pro-sports" town. Chris in Cambridge |
