The Dayton Dragons (25-18) avoided the sweep by the Quad Cities River Bandits (St Louis, 24-19) by the score of 1-0 tonight at Modern Woodmen Park (?) in Davenport, Iowa. The Fire Breathers picked up their lone run in the 5th inning when Justin Reed (.55, 35RBI) drove in Keltavious Jones (.260, 16SB). On the hill tonight, Kyle Lotzcar (3.58 ERA, 50SO) threw 2.2 innings of two hit; two strikeout baseball before leaving the game with a right arm injury. Juan Rafeal (3-1, 3.54ERA) then entered the contest to go 5.1 innings of 4 hit baseball. The ninth inning was thrown by Henry Arias who earned his third save of the year.
The Dragons are off on a travel day tomorrow before starting a four game set with the Fort Wayne Wizards ( San Diego, 20-23) on Tuesday night at 5/3 Field. The Dragons now lead the Wizards by five full games for the final playoff spot in the Eastern Division with 27 games remaining in the season.
