Ater Majok - Likely the player who projects to be the best player down the road, Majok is Senegalese but lives in Australia. He is a big man (6′10″ or so), with long arms and the ability to put the ball in the basket. He has pro prospect written all over him and NBA scouts have already taken notice of him. He is visiting UCONN this weekend and they are the likely favorites. He is scheduled to play in the Derby Classic and visit UK. Likely a bit of a long shot here, as UCONN is the favorite....UK likely runs second right now, along with Baylor.
Josh Harrellson - Another JUCO guy, but this one is a big man. 6′9″, with three years of eligibility, Harrellson is a catch waiting to happen for whoever can get him. He just received his release from his Western Illinois LOI, thus allowing him to sign with a school and be eligible for three years. He is the perfect recruit for UK....a big man who can shoot from outside, is fundamentally sound and could compliment Patrick Patterson. Going into his visits, UK is the leader.... BUT I was told by his coach that he will take all five visits so as not to rush into a decision as he did last time. UK's job will be to stay ahead after the visits as well....look for IU to be a top contender with UK, thanks to Tom Crean's interest in the player.
Rodrick Flemings - Lets start with the kid that has the newest movement on his recruitment, Mr. Flemings (pictured above). Rodrick is a scorer coming out of a Texas Junior College, where he was a JUCO All-American and known as a guy who can put the ball in the basket. Flemings has the makeup of a player that Gillispie wants....6′7″, long arms and able to get out on his defender. He has expressed a preference for UK in the past and told Jim Tirey just yesterday that he will be visiting Kentucky this weekend. That visit could conceivably lead to a commitment, but he also plans on looking into UCONN as well. He mentioned to Tirey the possibility of playing in the NBA directly, but dont look for that to happen. Right now UK is in a fight with UCONN for Flemings' services and whoever gets him will have an IMMEDIATE contributor of the offensive end.....well, maybe. Flemings is still considered to be not a lock for qualifying. Some wonder if he can get eligible by next year, and if not, the SEC may not allow him at UK. The Cats look good for him if he can play anywhere....but that isnt certain at this point. He may be the player most likely to make an immediate impact for the Cats next season.
Darius Miller of Mason County might not be the only Kentucky basketball newcomer to lead his high school team to a 2008 state championship. Two other prospects who fit that description are on UK's recruiting radar.
The two are Paul McCoy, a 6-foot guard from Portland, Ore., and Maurice Sutton, a 6-foot-11 player from Largo, Md.....................................................................................http://www.kentucky.com/276/story/364992.html
