I never really had a second team, like VA's Rays, but I just saw on John Fay's blog that Pete Mackanin is now the bench coach for the Phillies. I kinda like Charlie Manuel anyway--the whole rural upbringing thing--but now this settles it.

I'd have better hair than Mackanin if I didn't have 108 red stitches in my head. |

That is a nice addition to Philadelphia. I have to admit that I have been a closet Philly fan, not due to their recent success, but due to my regular baseball talks with my aunt Bernice. She moved back to WV after Mom died to help with another of her sisters that was dealing with Alzheimers. Aunt "Bernie" lived in Philadelphia working for over 25 years as an archivist for the American Medical Association, and became a Phillies fan during that time period. She also has become a closet Reds fan due to the lack of Phillies games broadcast in Vienna, WV. XM radio has been a Godsend to her. The passion that she has for her Phillies made it easy to support the Phillies during the playoffs.
