    2008 Draft

Friday, April 25, 2008, 12:01 PM EST [General]

    Memo to the Bengals.

GET DEFENSIVE HELP, and ALOT OF IT.

Ellis should be there @ number 9. So take him.  If he isn't I work a deal to trade down and acquire a 5th or 6th round pick..

I get a WR in the 2nd or 3rd.  I like Doucet, I love the kid from Indiana, I like Kelly..but there are plenty or WR's in this draft, I advise they go get one. I would also like to see a OT drafted as well as a Center.  A TE wouldnt be bad.  I wouldnt mind seeing a RB...late..I think the steal of the draft will be Tom Zibikowski from Notre Dame.  Smart quick kid who can return Punts!

All 3 CF's show their worth

Saturday, April 5, 2008, 05:23 PM EST [General]

I mean come on.  A HR.  2 Runs Scored.  And bigger than that, a Sac Bunt.  Patterson, Freel and Hopper all showed their worth today.  How huge was it that Freel was on 3rd instead of Dunn.  How huge was it that Hopper comes off the bench to get, what used to be elementary, a bunt down the line and advance the runners...setting the stage for Paul Bako who found a way to PUT THE BALL IN PLAY, and win the game.  All 3 of our "CF's" came up HUGE today.  It goes to show, you can NEVER have enough talent.  Remember in 1990, we had guys like Ron Oester, Todd Benzinger/Hal Morris, Louis Quinones, Glen Braggs...That made it VERY nice in 1990.  I like our bench just as much this year.  The role players/every third/fourth day guys get overlooked...but today Freel and Hopper showed there worth!

In response to Lances "Its Early Post"

Friday, April 4, 2008, 12:22 PM EST [General]

    Lance,

The idea of "It's Early" is the fact that it is, in fact early in the season.  A win is a win is a win.  April, May,September, October, November sometimes....a win is a win. However, the idea of the saying is...let's not get all worked up by Johnny Cueto, and Jeff Keppinger.  There is alot of season left...

    BUT!

Forget all of that B.S.  IT's reds season, Kep is ripping the cover off the ball, Cueto has been tossing amazing, and I even saw Dunn and Griffey go the other way with the ball.  Phillips is Phillips...STUD.  Lincoln, Affeldt, Mercker and Cordero have looked solid.  Weathers not so much, but he will be fine.  I like this club.  If we could get a stud catcher in the next 2 years....I LOVE this club.  I think Edwin will be on the "trade block" all season long.  I love the idea of Kep at 3rd EVERYDAY...when Gonzalez comes back.  Kep is a perfect 2 hitter.  I would still like to see Phillips batting 3rd, to utilize his speed in front of Junior.  But in Dusty we Trusty!!  Keep it up boys.  If we go 2-1 each series...I like our chances :-P

    Cueto gets it done

Thursday, April 3, 2008, 04:37 PM EST [General]

Johnny Freaking Cueto.  Welcome to Cincinnati.  10 K's!  Weather's tried to blow it in the 8th.  What is it with the 8th inning?

I think this team will go as far as the bullpen will allow.

Weathers, Affeldt, Burton, Lincoln, Bray, Majewski...if we can get two of these guys to be hammers down there in mid-summer we will be tough.  I love Cordero and Merker.  But if two more guys can solidify this pen....LOOK OUT!
