The reds finally won again, after going on a 5 game losing skid. That was a good baseball game, it got a little dicey at the end there, for a second I thought "Coco" was going to blow it but he came through. My thoughts and prayers go out to Griffey as he greaves the loss of one of his best friends Frank King died today after battling cancer. He was originally going to be on the bench but he told Dusty that he wanted to play because that is what Frank would have wanted. Griffey made a hell of a catch to rob Soriano of a homerun. Overall a good game by the Reds hopefully they can get on some type of roll and get back into the central race, there is still plenty of time with around 130 games remaining.
They couldn't hit water if they fell out of a boat
I would be extremely happy if I never had to see Corey Paterson play another inning for the rest of my life. How can a major league player drop a pop up as pathetically as he did? That cost us one of the two runs that the braves wound up beating us by. And who knows if Volquez only give up a solo shot maybe the Reds have a different mindset and are able to pull out the win, but no thanks to Corey looking like a smaller Adam Dunn in the outfield. I know that Tim Hudson is a good pitcher but the Reds offense is absolutely terrible. I don't know how many times it will take them to learn but they need to lay off of the first pitch. It is amazing how many first pitch outs they produce, not only does it not give you as a hitter some time to adjust to the pitcher but you also make the pitcher work harder which in turn he does not last as long in the game, its pretty simple.
Much needed day off!
Well at least we keep go to bed tonight and know that the Reds didn't lose today. After listening to Lance today, I think that I agree with him in that the management needs to make up their mind in regards to the makeup of this team. We either need to blow it up and go young and let them take their lumps or make a few trades and try and turn this season around. Does anyone else have thoughts?
Reds lose, again
The reds will finish the month of April at 12-17. We really need our bats to come to life because for the most part we have gotten pretty good pitching but it has all gone to waste. On a positive note Homer Bailey had a really nice outing today pitching seven innings of three run baseball while striking out ten. If he has a couple of more starts like this I think the front office will have to bring him up and throw Belisle in the pen and dump Fogg. It will be interesting to see what the Reds do with Dunn and Griffey as this season progresses. If it were me I would sign Griffey up for another year so that he can groom Jay Bruce once he is up in the bigs, and I would trade Dunn for a rosin bag and a bag of peanuts.
Cueto stuggling
It is the bottom of the 2nd inning right now and Johnny Cueto is getting shelled. It is now 7-0. Johnny is reeling right now, I feel bad I think he is getting to amped up and is being to much of a thrower instead of a pitcher. Baker just took him out as I write this post, Johnny's line for the night is 1.2ip, 8H, 6ER, 2K, 1BB.
