That's right, "Please Forgive Me" leads us to the next installment of finding your "Rock-N-Roll Soul". It takes all kinds of music to get properly "In Tune" to your inner "Rock-N-Roll Soul". So far on this journey we've experienced music across all types of genres....today, we'l we go across the big pond to Jolly ol' London, England to be exposed to the wonderful world of David Gray. Classification for his music is unknown...I just know that David's music grabs a hold of my "Soul" and does something magical with it. The hooks and ladders of a song put me into a head bouncing trance.....sometimes ladden with happiness and other times dripping with sorrowful emotion.....nonetheless, David's music will put you into an emotional state of musical enjoyment.
I have had the wonderful experience of seeing David Gray live, twice...first time Cincinnati and the second time, in the musical mecca of the Ryman Theatre in Nashville, TN. That night at the Ryman was inexplicable....In my top 5 of live experience's I have ever been a part of. The Ryman is a place that every music fan should see a show at....magical, simply magical....goosebumps for the entire night. Most memorable moment from the Nash for me..my wife and I and another couple were walking to dinenr before the show, we were walking past the Ryman, and I spot the tour bus. Unloading a bunch of equipment is a few guys and then....out comes David from Tour bus....I couldn't help myself, I yelled out as loud as I could.."David" ...He turns and looks at me and I catch his eyes...and yell.."Welcome to Nashville Mr. Gray".....he smiles a huge grin and raises his hands in appreciation.....then hops into the back door of the Ryman. It was a surreal setting, timing was perfect and the encounter was a perfect way to start the evening.
So encounter Mr. Gray, enjoy the tunes and slip off into a wonderful little world of enjoyment.
Allright Kids, let's get back to business....the business of Rock-n-Roll Soul and how to find it..
Staying in the Commonwealth of Kentucky for our next "Guide" to capture our R-N-R Souls..
Chris Knight, hails from parts near Bowling Green, Ky and has the accent to prove it. I was first introduced to the sweet tunes of Chris Knight via WNKU 89.7 way back when in 1998 or so. "It ain't easy being Me" blew me away, Chris's vocals were captivating and soothing to the soul all in the same note. I thought ot myself...damn, this guy is gonna make it big some day. Well, six albums later, Chris Knight has positioned himself for the big time. Make sure to check out his latest release, "Heart of Stone" it has been self dubbed as his best work to date. Chris Knight has the uncanny knack for tapping into the everyday "Joe's" story and turning into a song. You'll find yourself as you listen along, "Damn, that''s what me and the guys would do back when we were growing up." or "****, that just happened to me last freaking weekend."
Please enjoy the following selections that I have selected for your listening enjoyment, please forgive some of the poor visual quality but to capture the essence of Chris Knight it has to happen at a live show.
Chris Knight is as "solid" as a Chevy truck he sings about and as "real" as the people that inspire his songs. Enjoy the tunes!!
D, I see they'll be in NYC Nov 6 and 7...maybe I'll see if I can go, considering I like the Youtube footage you been puttin up of them. Hip Hop, Jazz, Soul, Gospel are my deals, but I still like good rockers and these guys definitely bring it. There are budgetary considerations as well...I'll keep you updated.
Hey Bigman, I'm sorry I didn't respond sooner but I have been flat on my back, sick. I hope you guys have a great trip and good luck with breaking the record. Be safe and see you soon, Mike
I've questioned Brat's playcalling and lack of in-game adjustments myself many times. Maybe with the new move and emphasis on the run game, Brat can finally come into his own and put the O in the top 5. 15 ranked D plus top 5 O for the Bengals and I think we are on the short list for the Lombardi!
