    Credibility check
We will see how much this organization wants to win by what they do with Matt Belisle and Corey Patterson. Neither helps this team...at all. Dusty wanted Corey. Bob told Wayne to make it happen. Patterson is a disaster. They made a 3-million dollar mistake. Time to eat the contract. Belisle has used up all nine lives. No team, serious about competing, sends him out every 5th day. Walt's move.

For Griffey, the road not taken
    NY Times

Given Griffey's head start, should this be regarded as the baseball equivalent of Secretariat's tripping on his final furlong? Perhaps not. Baseball players are human beings, and they cannot often be counted on to maintain the same pace once they enter their 30s, and the ravages of tens of thousands of innings played begin to take their toll.

    Nice story on Haruki
    Baltimore Sun

    (Getty Images)

"When I watched him play, he was always moving, always in motion, always getting in the film," Carrier said. "I've always told our guys: 'Don't be last getting on the film.' He plays with a sense of urgency. I just love watching the kid play."

    Thanks again
Thanks for taking topics and running with them this past week. A couple of the topics weren't planned...just things mentioned that you jumped in on...even better. It's a nice change of pace from Reds and Bengals.
    1. DangerousGolfer.com.....the website for bad and dangerous golfers. I'm still getting stories about your play and your shots.
    2. The Ice Cream Dipper: Kelly's $12, warm to the touch, dipper seems to be the topic you took home for discussion
    3. Cool, odd, bizzare nicknames...and how they came about.
    4. Vision Quest: Remembering an underrated movie. My movie store in Independence didn't have it Friday night.
    5. Wimp: A-Rod's wife called him a wimp for passing out in the delivery room. You had some great stories of being a wimp yourself at times.
    6. Greatest single day athletic accomplishments

    Keep the ideas coming.

Clones win in front of record crowd
The Cincinnati Cyclones turned a four goal second period into the springboard for a 6-2 win over the South Carolina Stingrays Friday night at U.S. Bank Arena.  David Desharnais had two goals and two assists and Matt Macdonald had a goal and two assists to pace the offense.  Cedrick Desjardins stopped 25 shots to register the victory.  A club record crowd of 5210 was on hand to cheer the home team to its third straight postseason victory.
The win gives Cincinnati one game to none lead in the best of seven series for the American Conference championship.  The winner of this series will advance to the Kelly Cup Finals which will begin Memorial Day weekend.
Game two of the series is at U.S. Bank Arena on Saturday night at 7:30pm.  Tickets will be available at the door.  Hot dogs are the specialty item of the night and fans can purchase them for just one dollar each all night.
