    Pokey finds work
    MLB.COM
"He was signed to help [our] Triple-A depth," Bowden said. "All our Major League injuries have hurt our depth at Triple-A. We do not want to rush prospects from Double-A and hurt their development, so he is there to fill out the roster. Also, [his] defense up the middle in Triple-A is important to develop young pitchers like Collin Balester."

What a minute ... Did they say the retirement of BRET BOONE. But anyway, another former Red follows Ol' Leatherpants to the Capitol.

Wasn't Pokey the one who said "you know he is lying 'cause his mouth is open," referring to Jim Bowden?

Back in 1967, teams did not adhere to pitch counts as they do today. Gaylord Perry's arm didn't fall off. So, when Dusty goes over 100 pitches by 10-20 pithces, don't panic because hopefully our guys are conditioned enough to do it. Look guys, Jim Bowden was no saint but he was not the devil either. He was not good in drafting players but Dunn and Votto are his guys. He also was the last GM with a winning record (2000) and a playoff appearance. (1995) The '99 Reds were his creation.
