When I read this I think of Broadway Commons

The best walk in Major League Baseball takes place 81 times per year, immediately following the conclusion of a Boston Red Sox game. It traces the approximate half-mile path from Fenway Park to the nearby Kenmore Square T station, and -- time after time -- it brings me back to being 8 years old and laying my eyes on Coney Island for the very first time.
When you leave Fenway, your senses are overwhelmed by a world oozing with color and smell and taste and feel and $15 I HATE NEW YAHK T-shirts.
I love taking in games at Fenway, but I live for the postgame stroll.

    Vacation sports books
    Yahoo
It's the middle of July, and I'd like to let you in on a little industry trade secret - there is nothing going on in sports. Other than Chris Berman making the home run derby unwatchable, of course.
Call me old school, but summer is for reading a book. I'm a Gutenberg guy, shoot me. The rest of the year can be for text messages, instant messages and useless messages. Try some old media for a change.
Coincidentally, I've got some sports books to recommend. You should read one. Or three. Or all five.

On this date: Bo knows All-Star game MVP
    NY Times
Tonight, on one of the game's grandest stages, Jackson took his rising star to another height. In the 60th All-Star Game, in front of 64,036 at Anaheim Stadium, the Kansas City Royals left fielder turned the night into something special. He hit a first inning homer nearly 450 feet, drove in two runs and stole a base, then was named the game's most valuable player in the American League's 5-3 victory over the National League.

Munoz leads the way among OL
    USA Today
An award citation issued by NFL Alumni once read: "The NFL has three levels of offensive linemen. The bottom rung is for players aspiring to make the Pro Bowl. The next step is for those who have earned all-star status. Then there's Anthony Munoz. He's alone at the top."

Build a Wiffle Ball Field and lawyers will come
    NY Times

    (NY Times photo)
"People can remember how much fun it was to go out in the woods in the summer, build a fort, do something fun and creative, so there's something pretty cool in what these kids did, especially at a time kids grow up in such an incredibly structured and stressful environment," said Lin Lavery, one of three Greenwich selectmen, who inherited Wifflegate while the first selectman, Greenwich's version of mayor, is on vacation.

    The day cool died
    Fan Nation
Its age was hard to pin down, but Cool is believed to have been born in the late 1960s, around the time Joe Namath began wearing full-length fur coats and dating models (no one said Cool couldn't be fun) and John Carlos and Tommie Smith stood silent and stoic on the Olympic medal podium in Mexico City, their leather-gloved fists raised in a human rights salute (no one said Cool couldn't be serious).

Wow, I'm jealous of the Brewers
    Milwaukee Journal Sentinel
"Once the trade was announced Monday morning, I called everybody together from the various departments, and we went through all kinds of thinking," Schlesinger said. "We called it the CC surge."
The results have been dramatic, Brewers' executives say. Since the trade was announced, the Brewers have sold about 70,000 tickets, about three times the normal rate. That's a testament to Sabathia's presence and the franchise's commitment to a playoff push.

    The Pitch of an Island
    The Wall Street Journal
Mr. Volquez says he learned the change-up in 1998 because his Dominican youth coach told him he'd need more than just a fastball to start in the majors. When he made his major-league debut with the Rangers in 2005, he had a full compliment of pitches -- all that stood between him and stardom was his control. After his trade to the Reds last December, he met with Mr. Soto, who says he was awed by the young pitcher's technical soundness. "That change-up is killer," Mr. Soto says.
