Loved Myrtle Beach!
Thanks for all the recommendations for Myrtle Beach. Kelly and I stayed two days...and crammed in a great deal. We got back to my dad's in Southport, NC Wednesday afternoon. We stayed at the Hilton Myrtle Beach Resort.....it was spectacular.
We walked around the "strip", but are glad we stayed miles from the chaos of downtown. We checked out the Gay Dolphin....long story...details to follow.
Never seen so many Putt-Putt courses, buffets and Beach Wear places in my life. We were on the beach most of Tuesday morning/afternoon. Kelly read her book, I read my sports pages, but struggled to find decent sports talk radio on my headphones. Sure makes you appreciate living in a pro sports town. I was bummed the Myrtle Beack Pelicans were out of town....Kelly was not.
Favorite spot was easily Broadway at the Beach. We went both days. Monday night I convinced the bartender at Margaritaville to flip the TV to HR Derby...just in time for Josh Hamilton. Everyone in the place stopped and watched. People started high fiving each other. Casey and my dad were calling on my cellphone to yelling and screaming.
Dinner at Chestnut Hill was top notch. I was in seafood heaven. Our table was by a window looking down to the pond with turtles and gators.
We caught the Carolina Opry Tuesday night. Kelly's choice, not mine...(make-up call to watching HR derby) but it was pretty good.
