THURSDAY -First off, if you've been wondering where Lance is, he details a pretty crazy few days on his blog. Scary stuff and thank God he did the right thing and went to the ER. We're looking forward to having him back and we're praying for both he and his family. Nick is filling in for Lance today. Tomorrow, Nick and I will flip-flop....he'll do my show and I will host the Bengals Breakdown at Buffalo Wing's and Ring's.
-Bengals/Steelers....tonight will be as close as we'll ever come to giving the Bengals a pass. Never has a Bengals team had less of a chance to win a game. Depleted O-line, ineffective backup QB, two starters on defense are out. And the Steelers bring the league's top ranked defense to the table. ZERO chance they win, and how could you expect any team two when they lose the left side of the line and one of the backups?
-UC/Pitt.....since I gotta do the Bengals show tomorrow, this is our chance to get into this game. Can UC slow down the Pitt running game? Anyone have a scouting report on Pitt? Is a UC football game the biggest sporting event in Cincinnati since 1/8/06? Is the Tennessee thing going to be a distraction? Looking ahead a bit, if BK leaves, and he takes his staff with him, got someone on the radar to take over?
-We've often lamented the decline of the hot flight attendant. A cheap airline in the UK found them.
-I'm allowing the emails to pile up, and trust me, it's not intentional. One day I'm going to respond to every one in my inbox, and I've got some that go back to February. I promise I'll handle them better than the GM of the Cleveland Browns.
-Erin Andrews is filling out her sweater quite nicely.

QUALITY VETERAN OF THE WEEK: FAMKE JANSSEN There's a new James Bond movie out. Or maybe it's coming out. I don't know, I'm not gonna see it. Anyway, when ever a Bond movie comes out, we have the obligatory run down of our favorite Bond girls. There's plenty of worthwhile candidates, but since I've only seen one Bond movie, and Famke Janssen was in it, playing some sexed-up Russian killer. She looked outstanding. That was in 1995. In 2008, at age 43, she is still bringing it.
Since I didn't do a show preview this morning (long story), couple quick thoughts on the Bearcat game... -Gotta love the length UC has underneath. Williams and Toyloy are well versed in how to play post defense. Scoring over them is a chore. -Mitchell had a great game last night, but I'm still not a huge fan of his game. He stands still and shoots. And he doesn't usually make as many as he missed last night. -A Darnell Wilks sighting. He can really help this team. Long and athletic, and displayed a smooth stroke. Most important, he actually showed some interest in playing defense. -Gates was a no-show. Happens with freshman early. I can live with that in November. I won't after Thanksgiving. -Steven Toyloy might end up being my favorite Bearcat this year. -Other than Vaughn, you saw a little Bishop, some Dixon, and some Davis playing point. I'm not in love with any of them as options there right now.
DO MARIAH CAREY AND JEREMI JOHNSON SHARE THE SAME DIETICIAN? One day you're gonna tell your kids that this woman used to be hot. They will ask how often you did drugs.
THE WOMEN OF WESTWOOD My buddy Tommy went to LA last week to watch Miami play Weber State and UCLA. Being that Pauley Pavilion tops my list of venues I've yet to visit but want to, I was very jealous. Then I realized he'd get to check out UCLA cheerleaders and future strippers dance team girls as well. I gave him a camera and an assignment: pictures of them. Lots of them. Here's his best effort, some are a bit blurry, but most are worthwhile.
Just over two years ago, the New York Mets announced that they had reached an agreement with Citigroup for the naming rights to their new ballpark slated to open in 2009 for a record $400 million over 20 years, or $20 million annually...
And, even at $20 million annually over 20 years, it has a provision by which the parties can extend the deal for up to 35 years, showing the investment and returns that Citigroup saw in the Mets new stadium....
The deal with the Mets was before the economic downturn. Even before the heavy slide in the credit market, Citigroup had begun to cut costs, reducing their assets by 20 percent since the first quarter of this year.....
Today, Citigroup announced that 53,000 workers will be laid-off – a staggering sum totaling 20 percent of their workforce.
So, the question is, will the steep losses at Citigroup scuttle the most lucrative naming rights deal in American sports history with the Mets?
The answer from the Mets is, no.
Reached for comment, Mets spokesman Jay Horwitz simply replied that the deal with Citigroup is not in peril.
“Everything is fine with our naming rights deal for Citi Field,” Horwitz replied by email.
Next time you go to a game, look up the stuffed shirts in the sweet heated or air conditioned luxury boxes, and wonder how many throats they had to slash to keep living the high life.

THANK YOU, BEN ROETHLISBERGER NFL players reacting to the silly overreaction to Donovan McNabb not knowing NFL games could end in ties. From Pro Football Talk.... “People are making too big of a deal of this,” Roethlisberger said, . “They’re being too hard on Donovan. I’d bet you fifty percent of the league didn’t know that at the time. You’d be surprised. People seem to think that the quarterback should know it all, and that everyone should know that stuff. And it’s not necessarily true. Because who ever thinks of that situation? How often does it ever come up? And the rules change so often that you never know what happens.”
According to the piece, Hines Ward also was unaware the league had ties before the Steelers and Falcons played to one in 2002. Sadly, it's not likely that he will have to worry about such a scenario come Thursday.
Michael Minelli, a 27-year-old club promoter, claims that the inclusion of his photograph in the book has subjected him to "hatred, contempt, and humiliation" and has resulted in "friends, acquaintances, coworkers, employees, and strangers alike" calling him a "douchebag."

ANYONE FEELING JIM LEYRITZ'S PAIN? The former Turpin star and New York Yankee is accused of getting hammerd, driving, and taking the life of a mother. According to his classy wife and lawyer, living with that is not the hardest part, it's the car's "bothersome" interlock device.....
"He cannot leave the car with a valet, because it cannot be started by the valet," his lawyers said in a statement.
And he "can't eat things like chicken Marsala," said his ex-wife, Karri, because certain foods cause false positives.
CHANNEL 12 DOESN'T THINK WE EXIST Our friends at Local 12 are having a poll to determine the best morning show in Cincinnati. Apparently, they didn't get the memo that Alan Cutler is on everyday. If so, he'd easily run away with the title of Cincinnati's Favorite Morning Show. But since Channel 12 is lame, they excluded him. Since our guy isn't in the running, I encourage you to do vote either my guy Jim Scott on 700WLW or Tim and George on Kiss107. I will let them bribe me for my complete endorsement. In the meantime, here's a poll of my own...

TUESDAY'S SHOW -Why you're a dunce if you bet on sports. -Why I can't get worked up about UC maybe not selling out Saturday. -Donavan McNabb doesn't know NFL games can't end in a tie. So? -How cool is the ESPN college hoops marathon? -The NFL is hypocritical. -A look at XU pounding Toledo. -UC/Texas Southern and UK/UNC. Our UK guy Matt Jones tells us how the Wildcats allowed 111 to VMI, how badly they'll lose to Carolina w/ no Hansbrough, and what bowl lies ahead for the UK football team. -Mark Cuban shouldn't serve jail time for inside trading. -Jeremy Affeldt to San Fran, no interest in signing Weathers. How we liking that 'pen?
I HAD TO SLAVE AWAY FOR YEARS FOR THIS GIG All you've got to do is donate some food.

Bruce Springsteen's new album "Working on a Dream" has been set for a January 27 release on Columbia Records. "Working on a Dream" was recorded with the E Street Band and features twelve new Springsteen compositions plus two bonus tracks. It is the fourth collaboration between Springsteen and Brendan O'Brien, who produced and mixed the album.
"Working on a Dream" Song Titles:
1. Outlaw Pete 2. My Lucky Day 3. Working on a Dream 4. Queen of the Supermarket 5. What Love Can Do 6. This Life 7. Good Eye 8. Tomorrow Never Knows 9. Life Itself 10. Kingdom of Days 11. Surprise, Surprise 12. The Last Carnival
Bonus tracks: The Wrestler A Night with the Jersey Devil
Bruce Springsteen said, "Towards the end of recording 'Magic,' excited by the return to pop production sounds, I continued writing. When my friend producer Brendan O'Brien heard the new songs, he said, 'Let's keep going.' Over the course of the next year, that's just what we did, recording with the E Street Band during the breaks on last year's tour. I hope 'Working on a Dream' has caught the energy of the band fresh off the road from some of the most exciting shows we've ever done. All the songs were written quickly, we usually used one of our first few takes, and we all had a blast making this one from beginning to end."
"Working on a Dream" is Bruce Springsteen's twenty-fourth album and was recorded and mixed at Southern Tracks in Atlanta, GA with additional recording in New York City, Los Angeles, and New Jersey.

KIM KARDASHIAN LOVES WATERSPORTS That was my cheap attempt to show up more frequently on Google. Enjoy. *******************************
THERE WILL BE NO REFERENCES TO "KISSING YOUR SISTER" -Who wasn't rooting for a tie?
-I've never been a huge fan of the college OT system, because it's a bastardized version of the game, but I've come around. College OT is entertaining. Football is entertainment. The final, painful 15 minutes of the game yesterday was anything but.
-Does Shayne Graham get some heat today? He deserves it.
-If you went, and I ended up dragging myself, did you spend any dough? What was odd was that for the first time, there were different types of vendors patrolling my section. I had never seen a popcorn or chili vendor at PBS, but I did yesterday.
-If you watched TJ yesterday, how you could come close to doubting whether he should be on the team? Just a beast. 12 catches for 149 yards and he stepped in returning punts. Herculean.
-You run off tackle on third and seven at the Philly 47? That is playing not to lose, which I guess they accomplished.
-Today will be interesting....will a meaningless tie carry the three hours or a three day old UC win? How 'bout my Bearcats? Up to 19. Is Tony still the QB? How awful was the coverage on TV? I got more emails about th ESPN2 announcers than the game. What's the big freaking deal about the sill Cardinal logo?
