Be one of the first 3 people right now to send me a message here on LOT D and I'll give you 4 passes to see the movie screening of THE FORBIDDEN KINGDOM on Wednesday, April 16th at 7:30pm at the Showcase Cincinnati in Norwood. You must be able to come to the Radio Stations in Kenwood to pick up your passes during office hours by Wednesday the 16th, the day of the movie screening. Send me a message and I'll message you back if you are the winner to tell you what information I need from you to claim your passes. I will post winners on my next blog. Good Luck!
And don't worry, if you don't win here, just log onto 1530Homer.com and register for passes on our contest page.
Sometimes I feel like I'm in so many meetings that I don't have time to actually get work done. But the meetings are filled with brainstorming and ideas to entertain you and give you prizes. I don't know if I ever told you, but I HATE mornings. I'm much more awake and productive in the afternoons and evenings. That being said, Tuesday Mornings at 8:00am i meet with the 1530Homer Sales Staff. Wednesday Mornings I meet with the 700WLW Sales Staff. I am currently working with the 1530Homer Sales staff in coming up with more ideas on how to give away stuff here on LOT D. So come back often as I play around with on how to give you stuff. I hope you let me know how you feel about what we are doing. Can't promise you'll agree with or be happy about Everything, but we are in the infancy of this site and are interested in how you feel about it.
OK. I'm going to give away some extra passes to THE FORBIDDEN KINGDOM movie screening. The Movie Premiers in Wed, April 16th. You can register at the contest page at 1530homer.com, or you can be hanging around LOT D this afternoon during Lance's Show and I'll tell you how to win 4 passes at that time.
Ok. I've had a lot of time to think about this movie. It's a great date night movie. So Guys, if you want to make your date happy AND enjoy a little of Football's History, this is the movie for you. I promise you will be entertained by this movie.
I think as George Clooney gets older, he seems to be channeling Cary Grant. Suave, sophisticated, impeccable sense of timing....and of course handsome! I have to confess I am a fan of the old movies. An Affair to Remember, The Philadelphia Story, Arsenic and Old Lace, Charade. I love that witty, quick banter in helping to create conflict...and sexual tension. George Clooney is a master at this and is one of the few real stars today who reminds us of the old movie mega-stars with that old-fashioned flare. Men want to be him and women want to be With him.
It's obvious George (yes, I'll call him George) did his history of the beginnings of Football. I loved the football game scenes, and in the beginning I wish there was more Football; at the end, I wish the muddy football game was shorter. I would have loved to learn more about the players early on.
The movie is visually beautiful. The sets, the costumes, and the over-all look are great. I totally got the feel of the 20's. I loved how early style pictures were woven in to the movements of the beginning. Here's my problem. And quite frankly, I'm surprised at this. I didn't like Rene Zellweger in this roll. Sure the costuming made her look great. But Katherine Hephern she is not, and I didn't think there was much sexual tension between her and George. (I almost wish someone like Julia Roberts was in the roll opposite George. They had great chemistry in Ocean's 11 & 12) I did like John Krasinski as the young college football player and I'm a huge fan of his in The Office...but I didn't believe the attraction between him and Rene Zellweger either. The fight scene which part of is in all of the movie trailers, is hysterical between John and George, but I didn't believe they would fight like that over Rene.
So, bottom, line. Is LEATHERHEADS worth seeing? Sure. Fantastic date movie. Will it win an Oscar, no way. Is George hot in this? Absolutely. He could read the phone book for two hours and I would watch. This is a fun movie and will definitely entertain you.
One more thing. You will come away totally understanding how George Clooney feels about rules....not only in Football, but baseball, too. Do rules ruin the game? You decide.
Well, I must say, the day has gotten away from me. I had planned to write my review of LEATHERHEADS, but, sorry, you'll have to wait until tomorrow. I have been working on prize winners from last Reds Season. Yes, if you were a winner of the Frisch's Big Play of the Game, Cincinnati Bell Trivia Question, or The Big Playoff Inning in Septmeber 07, and 700WLW owes you tickets and/or gift certificates to a Reds Game, they will be in the mail today or tomorrow. So I think these people will thank me for working on their tickets and waiting to write my review of LEATHERHEADS. There also was that wacky lunch today with Nick, Destiny and co-workers and interns. If you listened today to Nick and/or were in the chat room, you heard ALL about it. Lets just say it had to do with a friend of ours keeping his pants on...or belt buckled I should say. (he eats too much)
I am also very sad about the Reds loss today. We came off such a great weekend. That's Ok, though. There is so much promise and so much to look forward to.
