What a weekend!

Monday, April 7, 2008, 09:55 AM EST [General]

How about those Reds!  I was never worried...I knew they would pull the games out.  I wish I could be at the game today, but I will be here at my desk, planning some new contests for you and listening to the best announcers in baseball share the day with us.  Make sure you listen for The Frisch's Big Play of the Game.  If you call Jim Scott's Show the next day and identify the play, you may be getting a call from me or my lovely co-worker Molly. We have tickets to future Reds Games and a $10 gift card for you.

Speaking of contests....I have some extra passes to give away to THE FIRBIDDEN KINGDOM at the Showcase Cinemas in Norwood on Wednesday, April 16th.  I'll give them away here on LOT D.  Stay tuned and I'll tell you how to get them.  Winners will need to pick up the passes here at the stations in Kenwood before the 16th.

I did see LEATHERHEADS at the movies on Saturday.  I will leave my personnal review here later.

Friday, April 4, 2008, 04:10 PM EST [General]

I just put up a contest on 1530homer.com to see the movie screening of THE FORBIDDEN KINGDOM.  the screening will be at the Showcase Cinemas in Norwood on Wednesday, April 16 at 7:30pm.  THE FORBIDDEN KINGDOM stars Jackie Chan.

The synopsis:        An American teenager who is obsessed with Hong Kong cinema and kung-fu classics makes an extraordinary discovery in a Chinatown pawnshop: the legendary stick weapon of the Chinese sage and warrior, the Monkey King. With the lost relic in hand, the teenager unexpectedly finds himself traveling back to ancient China to join a crew of warriors from martial arts lore on a dangerous quest to free the imprisoned Monkey King.

You have to be available to come to kenwood to pick up your passes if you are a winner.  Someone from the Promotion's Department will call the winners on Friday, April 11th or Monday April 14th.  Good Luck!

    Reds Hall of Fame

Friday, April 4, 2008, 11:51 AM EST [General]

A couple of weeks ago, I was honored to help plan a little event called an Evening with Bench and Brennaman.  It was at the 4192 Room at GABP and I think around $9,000 went to the Reds Hall of Fame.  We worked with Makers Mark who helped the Reds Hall of Fame collect some awesome silent auction stuff.  Jim Scott was the host of the evening.  Anyway, Jim Scott's wife Donna was kind enough to take my picture with Johnny Bench.  Johnny let me hold his Hall of Fame Ring which I think he said it was a size 15!  It was an evening of great stories from Marty & Johnny.  We weren't allowed to record the evening so they would feel comfortable to tell stories with flare.  Here is the picture Donna took of me.  My Dad is a big Johnny Bench fan, so I thought it would be a sweet picture to frame for him for Father's Day.

Destiny was there and I took a great picture of her with JB, too.  It was an evening that was amazing, and as a baseball fan, it was incredible to be in the same room with the Reds Hall of Famers who were there.  We also got to see the Joe Nuxhall exhibit at the Reds hall of Fame.  It is quite moving.  I went back the next week to see the new Exhibit honoring the 50 years of Reds Baseball.  It's an exhibit all Reds Fans MUST see!

If you haven't been to the Reds Hall of Fame lately, you MUST take some time before or after a game to stop in.

Stay tuned here to my blog and I will keep you informed on cool and fun events that are coming so you can be a part of them.

I need to take a moment away from Sports

Friday, April 4, 2008, 09:30 AM EST [General]

I am very sad this morning.  Two Fire Fighters died in Colerain trying to put out a house fire.  Apparently a floor gave way and they fell through.  Sports are so important to me, but sometimes sad things happen and I want to take a moment and say a prayer for these brave Fire Fighters and their Families.  There is heartbreak in this city today.
