I know you've heard about the big crashing of the Record at Kings Island by Robbie Knievel. I was lucky to be there to witness the making of history on Saturday Night. Attached below is a few pictures I took, plus the picture at enquirer.com of the actual jump. Log onto the photo gallery at 1530homer.com for more pictures. Thanks to Darryl Parks for some of the pictures taken.
Saturday was a busy Day!
After returning from vacation on Friday, just in time to see the awesome show at the Aronoff called "The Jersey Boys," I got up early on Saturday to hang out at Riverdowns with Jim Scott. Rich Walburg and Mo Eggers stopped by to Salute the Military with us they even called one of the races over the PA. They also had their own race around the Paddock. They bet lots of money, too...as you can see.
What I did on my May Vacation.....
So much has gone on over the past week. I was on vacation and I will attach a slide show to give you a taste of what I did...and I say taste ironically! I went to one of the most wonderful places....Chocolate World in Hershey, PA. I brought back lots of chocolate to share with co-workers here.....delicious! My travel companions, one of which was my Dad, all decided to not eat at any chain restaurants, so we ate in taverns, pubs and diners all week. With the exception of the chocolate, I ate really well! We ate at an Amish Farm for lunch one day...some of the best chicken I've EVER had. (And it was in a town called Intercourse, PA...look it up! I bought some slasa from the Old Country Store there!) We also ate in the oldest tavern in Gettysburg, where the cast of the movie Gettysburg hung out during the filming...Tom Berenger, jeff Daniels, and more.
We went throught the Battle Fields of Gettysburg. It was wonderful fun. I've always been a fan of history and I learned more than I ever did in school. And it was a great week to be visiting Gettysburg. The Tourist Season has barely started and it was the week leading up to Memorial Day weekend. There are more Memorials than you can possibly believe. 15,000 Soldiers died in such a small area in 3 days!
The most emotional place we visited was the site of Flight 93 in Shanksville, PA where flight 93 went down on 911. It will take years for a permanent memorial to be errected, but it is hallowed ground and very emotional to see. it is literally in the middle of no-where and if you blink, you can miss the little roads to drive down to get to the field.
Below is a sample of my vacation!
