Watching the Red Sox and Reds last weekend brought back a lot memories from one of the greatest World Series ever played. It was great to see Johnny Bench made it to the game. We see Joe Morgan, Tony Perez and even Pete Rose at the ballpark from time to time. The person I would have loved to see at the park was Sparky Anderson. It is no secret that Sparky has not been in good health lately. I didn't want this rare Red Sox vs. Reds series to pass without recognizing the man who managed the greatest Reds teams of all time. Sparky, I hope you get to feeling better and hope you are able to make a trip to GABP soon!

My hat is off to the greatest Reds manager. I remember watching the Machine as a child. Hopefully the glory can be restored during my lifetime. People will argue that the players, whether good or bad, make a team successful. Sparky was just as important to the Reds of the 70's as Pete, Johnny, Joe and Tony.
