so tonight i attended the reds games vs. the cubs. It was probably one of hte best games i've seen in a while ,especially from this team. i'm not doubting them, but it was good to see a W tonight to bring my season record of game attendence to 5-5....
if it were not for an error by DeRosa at 3rd, this game most probably would have been a loss, seeing as how dunn may not have homered... so first of all, thank you DeRosa.
Second, lets give it up for Paul Bako.... our catcher. Honestly, he had a great night defensively. I do not think i'I ve ever seen a CLOSER (Cordero) throw so many pitches in the dirt... all of which (except for one which resulted in a blessing of an out) bako was able to stop to keep runners from advancing. Had he let one or two get bye, Cordero would have blown a save (since he loaded the bases twice) and the Cubs would have left tonight with a W off of the cincinnati reds.
I was happy to see the reds win a game at home, hopefully it will be the begining of a trend... and maybe, just maybe this season won't be a total loss after all...
Next, i would just like to say, that i was 8 rows behind the visiting dugout tonight... and i am now convinced that cubs fans really are assholes.... now i have been to wrigley field several times... nearly 20 games now.... and yeah, cubs fans are usually pretty hostile towars visiting fans, but never in my life have i witnessed what i witnessed tonight. A cubs fan sitting 3 rows in front of me, in a visiting stadium decided he was going to take it upon himself to be a complete asshole and nearly ruin the game for me, and everyone around me, including fellow cubs fans.
This gentleman decided to stand for the entire first inning, completely blocking my, as well as others view of home plate... after some shouting and choice curse words from him, i finally decided to yell back at him.... "sit down, we're trying to watch a ball game here" cubs fans (which i believe outnumbered reds fans tonight... sad but true) agreed with me. they also wanted to see the game.
this polite young man decided to continue to stand through the second, and curse at every reds player / fan in his sight. finally, someone asked him to sit down again... he replied " i paid for this seat, *explicit* you" well i had had enough..... my response was "yeah, you paid for your seat, so sit in it.... you didnt pay to stand so the rest of us cant see what the hell is goin'g on with the game"... at this point, a thunderous applause arose for me, reds fans and cubs fans alike.... i felt pretty good. during the next inning, a beach ball began to circulate, and of course, this bum from chicago (same guy as earliers) grabbed the ball and popped it to loud boos... at this point i really thought about having him ejected but decided not too... he would not make a peep the rest of the game, until the 9th, which made for a very enjoyable remainder of the game.... i didnt get mad at him for getting behind his rallying team in the 9th, i probably would ahve done the same... but everything else was totally unacceptable.
besides, we won, so its good anyway.....
once again, lets give it up for cueto, who fanned 8 and improved his record, and lets definetely give it up for BAKO who in my opinion saved the game...
reds forever, cubs NEVER!!!
p.s. has anyone ever seen anything like teh way ryan dempster moves his glove before a pitch?
