Big Sedona Red Machine

A lot of baseball people have wondered about an Arizona Diamondbacks Playoff run if somehow they could make the Playoffs. In 2001 Arizona faced the same challenge. They knew if they could make the Playoffs they could throw Curt Schilling and Randy Johnson back to back right to a World Series Championship over the Yankees. Seven years later the D-Backs have the National League's best pitcher in Brandon Webb, followed by super talented Danny Haren. And oh by the way Randy " Big Unit" Johnson has got his groove back in recent outings. Webb/Haren/Johnson in the Playoffs.... Scary. But the D-backs have struggled mightily hitting the ball. Oh until August 11th. That was the day the Reds dealt a big Texan outfielder to Arizona: Adam Dunn... In 5 games with Dunn, the D-Backs they have scored 38 runs and have posted a 4-1 record. Tonight Dunn came to bat 5 times and reached base all 5 times. 2 hits, 3 walks, an RBI, a STOLEN BASE, and a D-Backs win 11-5. The Arizona Diamondbacks look poised to get on a real big run similiar to what they did early in the season. And if they do make the Playoffs, Lou Piniella may get a good case of indigestion. Brandon Webb, Danny Haren, Randy Johnson and  Adam Dunn hitting in Wrigley Field. Look out Waveland Avenue.. Look out National League. The D-Backs like the Florida Marlins in 2003 could win their Second World Championship......

Wow, a bit of a stretch don't ya think? You geniuses need to quit immortalizing Adam Dunn like they just landed God himself. The NL West is pathetic and they're gonna limp there way into the playoffs if they even get in. Then they have to face teams like the Cubs or Brewers who not only have pitching but are loaded offensively, and don't forget they're 27-34 against non-divisional opponents. I agree with you about Brandon Webb and Dan Haren, they've got the arms but if you're counting on Dunn to be the answer for a pathetic offense you're in for a big disappointment sorry to tell ya.

Don't forget that the other contenders will have 1-2 punches equal to or better than what Arizona can throw. You call Webb the National League's best pitcher, but since he's come over, that has actually been Sabathia.

    Brewers: Sheets, Sabathia
    Chubs: Harden, Zambrano
Mets: Santana, Oliver Perez (who has been pitching like 2004 with great ERA since June).

I don't think AZ has an advantage over any of these contenders. The D-Bags are near .500 for a reason.
