    Hump Day, April 23, 2008

Wednesday, April 23, 2008, 03:11 PM EST [General]

Tomorrow morning on The Wake Up Call (www.wrfnradio.com), what you see below, plus Pennsylvania Primary results (thank god it's over....), plus the usual music and random crap, all going down from 7-9am on WRFN Radio!! Catch it online at www.wrfnradio.com.

Chad Johnson....do I really need to say any more?? Marvin Lewis says if he says he won't play then he should live up to his words and not play. When asked if the Bengals had received any trade offers for Chad, Marvin's answer was "no." Not but a few hours later did we find out that Washington had offered a first and a third round pick for Chad, and the Bengals said no (way to go Marvin, really knew your stuff there). All I can say is Chad can keep running his mouth all he wants, but he's not going anywhere anytime soon, except maybe his crib. After June 1, Mike Brown can trade ocho-stinko without absorbing a big cap hit. When June 2 rolls around, odds are Chad will be a Bengal no more, but wouldn't it be funny if Chad remains a Bengal, sits the season, gets paid his money, and the Bengals make a playoff run?? Not gonna happen, but it would be amusing.

Wayne Krivsky (finally) fired, Walt Jocketty (or however you spell it) promoted to GM. Not much more needed on this topic. We knew it was only a matter of time until Walt took over as GM.

Speaking of the Reds, Jerry Hairston, Jr made his 2008 debut last night, starting in center and leading off against the Dodgers. Long story short, he kicked ass, along with the rest of the team. Volquez went 7 and gave up just one run (by the way, he's now 3-0), bullpen did their job, and the hitters actually hit the ball. Final score 8-1, Reds win. Why was Hairston not with the Reds the whole time?? He lit it up in spring training, lit it up at AAA Louisville, and lit it up last night. On a side note, Norris Hopper's now on the DL. Reds likely lose to Houston tonight at GABP with Bronson Arroyo starting (0-2, 5.48 ERA, hasn't made it out of the 6th inning this year, call it a hunch).

Sean Miller (found out about this half an hour ago from Lance and Mo with Bill Cunningham) has signed contract extension which would make him the Xavier Men's Basketball Coach until 2018. Very deserving of the extension is Sean. I just hope for Xavier's sake he doesn't pull a Thad Matta and leave to coach a "power conference" school (even if it is Ohio State). Hopefully he'll stay the length of the contract and build an already high quality team into a national powerhouse.

UEFA Champions League semifinals taking place as we speak. Yesterday's 1-1 draw between Chelsea and Liverpool made me lose sleep last night, how do you have an own goal in stoppage time?!?! Today's game features some of the world's most spectacular footballers (soccer players to those who don't know), including Deco, Cristiano Ronaldo, Wayne Rooney, Thierry Henry, and Luis Nani. My boys from Manchester United face Barcelona (i like them, but they're not Man U) in Estadio Camp Nou in Barcelona, Spain. Hopefully, It'll be Liverpool-Man U in the Champions League finals in Moscow.

And finally, the second round of the run for the best trophy ever, the Stanley Cup, begins tomorrow night with Montreal playing the Flyers and Detroit playing my Avalanche. Friday's games are Pittsburgh/NY Rangers and San Jose/Dallas.
