Okay...on to my initial draft analysis followed by a commentary on the the Reds.
I was initially pretty sour on the draft; why couldn't The Bengals draft up with all the picks they had, to get the one player they truly desired in Sedrick Ellis?? Chick Ludwig claims it would have cost them a no. 1 (9th pick) and the no. 3 (72?) but how ia that possible when N.O traded up for what, a 3rd rd and 5th rd pick? Imay be mistaken; if so please let me know. Otherwise, Rivers at no.9 seems to be prtetty solid. 2nd round I'm liking more and more with what I'm hearing about Jerome Simpson. Great hands and leaping ability; sounds alot like a Carl Pickens without the attitude. From there on out most of the so called experts grade the Bengals out very well. I'm still a bit concerned our d-line will be weak at stopping the run, but let's wait an see. olur lb core should be solid at least.
On to the Reds...just when you think they're about to turn the corner and put it together our hitting again disappears, and Johnny Cueto struggles again. I'm worried now that teams have a beat on him after a couple of starts. He's gone from lights out good to very hittable given his last two outings He's still givinbg the Red's innings prior to this last start it may be too early to panic, but the last three starts are cause for concern. Right now my rotation would be...Harang no.1, Volquez no.2, Arroyo no.3, Cueto no.4, and call up Bailey at no.5... Belisle is not the answer in the 5th spot, Just as Fogg was not the answer. The future is now. Bailey was deemed as the future last year; he continues to shine in the minors,,,he can be no worse than Belisle at this point. By the way, get Bruce up here, see what he can do. Patterson needs to go as well. I like Dusty overall but he needs to give these young kids a chance and forget about these marginal veterans.
