    The race to 100 (losses)

Monday, May 5, 2008, 02:07 AM EST [General]

Must be a record folks!  May 04 and I'm officially done with this team...Of course I'm referring to the Reds.  Reluctant to even call this a team.  To call the Reds a team would be to assume they play together towards the common goal of winning.  The only person within the organization who cares about winning is the owner Bob Castellini.  Too bad he doesn't know how to put the pieces together to achieve his desired result.  The rest of them, those on the field, from Dusty Baker on down, could give a shit.

If Dusty cared about this ballclub, he wouldn't keep Patterson in the lineup.  Bruce, and Bailey, and the rest of the young talent would be on this roster. The overpriced undermotivated Dunn and Griffey would be on the trading block (not that there are any takers).  Ryan Freel as well as he's hitting is as dumb as a box of freaking rocks.  How many times has he been picked off or thrown out stealing, or trying to strech a single into a double, etc.  Hustle is one thing; poor desicion making is quite another.

Arroyo (a.ka. arr uh-oh), is looking more and more like Jack Armstrong every day...he's what, 14-27 since his 9-4 start with the Reds????  Either he needs to give up playing rock star and focus on his so called day job or he can take a flying leap!!! I'm sure J.T.M. would be willing to pick up his salary; if you've seen the commercials you'll notice he's not much more of a musician as he is a pitcher.

As much as I respect Ken Griffey Jr. for his desicion to take less money than he could have gotten on the market to play for his hometown Reds, there should be no way on earth he remains a Red after this season.  If the Reds can trade him they need to this season.  Not really his fault with the injuries, but how can you consider his time with Cincinnati anything less than a curse?  Let's see; Reds win 96 games in 1999, with a group of young players who overachieve and come to within a one game playoff of making the post season...Reds trade for Griffey, the best player in baseball. Griffey has what proves to be the best season of his broken Reds career yet the "team" manages to barely finish .500, the last of such accomplishments since Jr's arrival.  Seven consecutive losing seasons follow; I won't go as far as to say his presence as been detrimental, let's just say this team has lacked a leader since his arrival...it certainly isn't Junior!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm done;  the race to the 100 loss finish line will not be witnessed by me;  by then I'll be living in Dallas and won't have to hear the daily griping and moaning associasted with a losing franchise..Oh wait, that's right, the  Rangers suck too....at least i'll be able to follow Josh Hamilton as he breaks the season r.b.i. record enroute to his M.V.P. season and say how well the trasde worked out for both players,,,can't rightly say it's worked out for both "teams" since they'll both finish in last place.

Can't f'in wait for The Bengals season so I can root them on to their abligatory 7-9/8-8 season...sounds much more promising than 100 losses from these looooosers!!

Consider this my last post on the Speds until they make more than just a cosmetic change...I'll not hold my breath on that one...I for one would love to see 100 losses, maybe then they'll let the youth movement take it's course and they can quit beiong the half-assed pretenders they've been for nearly 2 decades now
