Dick Trickle Has The Best Raicng Name Ever!

Friday, July 18, 2008, 10:40 AM EST [General]

When you think of names, some people have names that match up with what they do, for example,  Don Garlits just sounds like a Drag Racer or Harry Gant sounds like a race car driver or Mookie Blaylock sounds like an NBA player or C Trent Rosecrans sounds like a sports talk show host/slash blogger(by the way thanks for the shoutout C Trent)  But, even though Dick Trickle doesn't really sound like a race car driver it has to be one of the coolest names in all of sports!

I want to know what you think about names in sports in general!!!  Send me your favorite sports names.

Mondays at 11pm I host The Race Report on 88.7 WOBO!  www.wobofm.com to listen online

    Newman, Penske Part Ways

Monday, July 14, 2008, 02:59 PM EST [General]

Ryan Newman and Roger Penske have mutually agreed to part ways after the 2008 season. The move appears to make way for Newman to join the new Stewart Haas Racing for 2009. If that is the corresponding move that Newman makes, what does that mean? I can tell you one thing, it will mean most likely Newman will have to qualify on speed the first 5 races of 2009, which should make qualifying interesting. Newman will also have a ton of pressure to make it into the field for the Daytona 500 via the Twin 150's. Although Newman hasn't had problems in the qualifying department. Newman has a career avg. starting position of 10.7 with 43 career poles.

Please leave me your comments about the Penske/Newman split.  We will use them on the air at wobofm.com on The Race Report at 11 pm Monday nights!

Been a race for many years. I go to at least 2 races a yr. Indy 500 is one of them and 1 (insert sponsor name here) Cup race. The COToday races dont excite me. It seems like when a pass is made the passing call blows by the passee or maybe the passee is slowing to allow the passer to pass. When one gets hooked up he runs away n hides until the "debris" caution comes out. The bumping n banging that goes on midpack is great cause these cars are duarable as heck but it seems like its just a game of follow the leader and win the race off of pit road to get the lead.
