    "Cincinnati Fans Suck"

Wednesday, September 17, 2008, 11:17 AM EST [General]

In the last 2 weeks, I've been told Cincinnati Fans Suck, by more than a hand full of people, and I don't believe it.  I honestly believe that sports fans in this town LIVE and DIE with these teams which was obvious to me a couple of years ago when I watched other Cyclones fans, being ripped to pieces as their team closed up shop, and people began to wonder if  hockey was dead in this city.

2 years later the Clones win the Kelly Cup at home in front of HUGE crowds.  And people, such as myself, that struggle with the Reds and Bengals year after year.

Ryan Parker seems to sum it up right here:

    Are we fickle??
Fickle: marked by lack of steadfastness, constancy, or stability: given to erratic changeableness

Bengal Bill?  Is he fickle? At this point, how can you blame him for considering not being BENGAL BILL anymore?  I've known this guy for years and I don't know how he will live without Bengal in front of his name.  How many guys would do this?  http://cdn.faniq.com/images/photos/photo_large/56/111556-1.jpg

    Listen to his own words-

I've been a fan of teams in this town for my entire life- and I've watched some of them come and go- and while the Major League teams seem here to stay- I struggle to keep supporting these teams year in and year out but, I keep doing it... but I'm a fan that SUCKS.  I keep going- I keep watching- I've made MULTIPLE ROADIES following these teams- but I'm tired of spending lots of cash supporting teams that aren't willing to show effort to support the fans in return.

As someone who has supported the Minor League teams in this town just as much as the Major League teams->  I'd say that the hardcore fans are pretty loyal to their teams.  "Cincinnati Fans Suck!"  I just don't believe it.  I think that we are just tired of watching the teams that we spend our hard earned money on lose.  It's frustrating- and if that makes me SUCK- so be it!

Dave Miley returns to the dugout- My heart goes out to him.

    Start the debate-

The College football season hasn't started yet and they have a debate going in the LOTD CHAT ROOM during Mo's show about who is the best THE SEC or the BIG TEN

I'm looking for some stats from last season to help compare their records and such from last season- I will post them later

SOOOOOOOOO, there has continued to be this debate about the 9 year old that can pitch 40 mph.

It's interesting because the league says:

"He is a very skilled player, a very hard thrower," Noble said. "There are a lot of beginners. This is not a high-powered league. This is a developmental league whose main purpose is to promote the sport."

    Pasted from <http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080826/ap_on_sp_ba_ne/bby_too_good_to_pitch>

BECAUSE HE'S too good, you can't PROMOTE the sport?  When you tell a kid you can't play because he's too good…  you are telling him that it's WRONG to be a GOOD PLAYER- has anyone watched ESPN??? How often do they talk about mediocre players?  NEVER  only really good and REALLY BAD!

I found this online earlier today and I had to snag it and place it on my blog- even though REDS talk is pretty much over around here.

AND NOW FOR SOME RAIDERS TALK-  BECAUSE THAT WILL ALWAYS BE MY TEAM- win/lose/or draw

    -

Legendary OAKLAND RAIDERS offensive lineman [guard] GENE UPSHAW passed away August 21st while fighting against pancreatic cancer.

Gene Upshaw, famous as a member of the menacing offensive line during the Raiders glory years earned honors of being a 7 time PRO BOWLER, 2 time SUPER BOWL CHAMPION and the only man in the NFL to have played in 3 Super Bowls with 1 team, during 3 decades. He was enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1987.

    Q & A with LANE KIFFIN  from
     www.raiders.com/Common/Article.aspx?id=50934

The Oakland Raiders have been on the practice field this week getting ready for their 2008 Pre-Season finale this Friday night against the Seahawks at Qwest Field in Seattle. Raiders Head Coach Lane Kiffin spoke to the media after practice Monday and Tuesday.

Coach Kiffin [Monday's opening remarks]: It was a practice split between corrections from the other night and Seattle as well. I thought the guys worked well, and we’re going to continue to work with our guys especially on offense with the loss of Drew [Carter]. As far as the receivers and quarterbacks, we’re going to continue doing a lot of work with those guys together.

Q:  How did Arman Shields look [Monday]?

A: He looked good, ran around. It’s hard to do what he’s doing for him to come back right now as a rookie and be able to remember everything. But movement wise he looked pretty good. We pushed him through some stuff and he caught some balls in the team drills.

Q: Since [Johnnie Lee] Higgins could conceivably be the return specialist on both punts and kicks, does that lessen the likelihood that he could be the third guy off the bench as a receiver?

A: No, I don’t think that if a guy is returning kicks that he can’t be your third receiver by any means. Guys have started at receiver and done kicks, so that will have nothing to do with it. Hopefully Johnnie will continue to develop, and he’ll play a lot this week and gain some confidence, and we’ll gain some confidence in him.

Q: You talked at camp about Michael Huff’s confidence being much higher at free safety. What have you seen in the games so far?

A: He’s played really well back there. His play the other night was perfect. The range is exactly what the guy is, he’s a free safety. He’s had a great off-season. From when we got here a year ago to the off-season this year, he’s completely different physically and mentally.

Q: With regard to Tyvon Branch...

A: Tyvon played extremely well. Every time Tyvon’s had a chance to do something on special teams he’s looked great. He just looks faster than everyone else out there. That’s a credit to him. It’s not just his speed, it’s a credit to the way he plays and how hard he plays. The play the other night was as good as it gets. That’s the second time he’s had a gunner rep where he’s looked like a Pro Bowl gunner, a guy that’s a legitimate special teams Pro Bowler. If he can carry that over, he can be a dynamic special teams player for us.

Q: That downhill-type guy that you're talking about that most every team seems to need, is that the basic reason fullbacks don’t carry the ball anymore? How often did you give the fullback the ball at SC?

A: Not very often in the run game. When you have good tailbacks it is hard not to give those guys the ball. Even a guy like Justin [Griffith] that can run the ball, Justin in Atlanta closed out a few games. When we got in situations, he helped us in Miami carrying the ball. When you have dynamic tailbacks, it is hard to give the ball the fullbacks unless it is short yardage. There are different types of fullbacks, [some] who play 10 years and never carry the ball.

Q: Fullbacks would carry the ball 60-70 times a year. Now nobody does it.

A: I think part of that is you don't see split backs. If you look at [Tom] Rathman when he was playing they were in split backs all the time.  That was the old West Coast. You'd make your tailback block sometimes and you'd run the ball, run your sweeps to your fullbacks and fullback traps. I think that that's phased out, you don’t see a lot of split backs anymore.

Any of you TECHIES out there- take a read about the new iPHONE, I don't care because I will NEVER own an iPhone but it's out there so I thought I'd post this for those of you that care.

    Bengals vs. Barack

    By John Kiesewetter • jkiesewetter@enquirer.com • August 27, 2008

If it comes down to the Bengals vs. Barack Obama on WKRC-TV (Channel 12) Thursday night, the Bengals will lose.

Channel 12, which will broadcast the Bengals-Indianapolis Colts game starting at 7 p.m., will switch to CBS News’ Democratic National Convention coverage at 10 p.m., if the game is not over.

The final minutes of the last preseason game would air on Channel 12’s sister station, the CinCW, also being called Local 12.2.

Presidential nominee Obama will address the convention in a national TV speech after 10 p.m., when the broadcast networks provide live coverage from Denver.

“Because of the long history and tradition we have for news here, and the historic nature of the convention, we thought our WKRC-TV viewers would expect to see the convention on Local 12,” says Les Vann, Channel 12 general manager.

WLWT-TV (Channel 5) also will be airing NBC’s preseason football game, Jacksonville at Washington, at 7 p.m. today. Channel 5 will “do whatever the NBC network does at 10 p.m., says a station spokesman.

    A letter to Mr. Johnson

Wednesday, August 13, 2008, 11:42 AM EST [General]

    Mr. Johnson,

When I was growing up, I was told that it's better to have people think you are an idiot than to open your mouth and remove any doubt.  You need to think again about changing your name because OCHO CINCO is not how you say 85 in spanish...and your OCHO CINCO routine is getting TIRED!!!

It's ochenta y cinco you IDIOT!  If you are going to legally change your name, change it to the correct words or just rename yourself Lemonjello or Orangejello.  People are getting tired of your crap, I being one of them (and I was a HUGE fan of yours until you started all this crap)  You are working your way towards renaming yourself OUT OF WORK if you continue to make yourself look like an idiot.

You are a good player... show it on the field and you won't have to run your mouth all the time!  ESPN dropped you like a bad habit as soon as Favre was returning or not and returning again.  Please Mr. Johnson, before you go and do something idiotic like change your name to Ocho Cinco, learn how to speak spanish, or change your name to ochenta y cinco so you don't look like a complete idiot!

You and the Bengals will not make the Super Bowl if you continue to cause problems in the locker room.  All of your team mates are saying "all the right things" when they are on camera but it sure seams like there are still issues with you being on the Bengals roster.  Just SHUT UP and PLAY. You are NOT the best receiver of all time, but if you show everyone how good you are instead of talking about how good you are, maybe you will be a Hall of Famer.

    A life long Bengals fan,

    Ryan
