Basketball]
I have read many posts, articles, blogs, etc and as all have said this is a loss to the team and state that is second to only Cawood. To have a man that has lived through so many eras of Kentucky basketball and watch it "live and die" and see it come back now to a new life under Coach G...man. I can't imagine. I know that he's enjoyed EVERY second that he's spent with every player, coach, administrator and fan. Having met him once and experienced "the smile" you know that everyone felt special around him.
My uncle used to have his mail delivered by Mr. Bill and would love to hear stories of UK. I'm willing to bet that was the slowest route in all of Lexington, but at the same time...the most popular.
I know that many people that are non-UK fans may make fun of the fact we "idolize" an equipment manager, but if they could see what he was outside of taking care of some jersies here and there they might understand. Maybe Cincinnatians can equate to Joe Nuxhall. Since living here the last 3 years, I've seen what he meant to the area. Just think Joe...
Hope that Bill gets the send off he deserves, a standing ovation in Rupp Arena on Thursday.
RIP Bill.
