The Reds Treat Us Better Than the Bengals

Wednesday, October 8, 2008, 04:11 PM EST [General]

I am currently listening to Lance's show, and talking about the Bengals got me thinking. What have the Bengals done for us? The organization uses and abuses us, the fans. As long as we keep pumping money into the organization, why should Mike Brown and the rest of the administration care how we feel?

While the Reds have had a 13-year playoff drought, it seems we give them a little more slack. Is it because they actually seem to care about their fans? While both teams have been struggling for over a decade, Cincinnatians still love their Reds. I'm not saying the Reds get a free pass; it just seems fans are easier on the organization.

Redsfest is a great off-season activity for fans. It gives us hope in the bleak winter months that baseball and sunshine are around the corner. Dollar hot dogs are a way to give back. Jersey retirement ceremonies are another great way. The Reds actually run their organization with the fans in mind.

The Bengals, however, do not give anything to their fans. Why do we put up with it? I love the orange and black, but it's just frustrating that a team seems to not give a crap about the fans who spend their hard-earned money.

    Random:

Does it make anyone else angry listening to Marvin's press conferences? It just seems like he doesn't care. Show some damn emotion! Is it because Mike Brown told Marvin his job is safe, and he has a job as long as he wants?

    0-16? Keep Hope Alive

Tuesday, September 30, 2008, 12:32 PM EST [General]

I am not being a pessimist here, but wouldn't it be awesome to see the Bengals go 0-16?

My Michigan Wolverines are bad, but it was an amazing comeback on Saturday against Wisconsin. Where the hell has that second half offense been all year? If you're a fan of the Maize & Blue, drop me a line, and then do yourself a favor and go to mgoblog.com

I always shed a tear the last Sunday of the Reds' season. I will sincerely miss Marty and the Cowboy until they start broadcasting spring training games. Have the dates for RedsFest or the winter caravan been announced yet?

And finally, this is for you C Trent.

God Bless America, and God Bless Dhani Jones.

    Frustration

Wednesday, April 16, 2008, 01:33 AM EST [General]

My first question is, how does Todd Coffey still have a job? Sure he pitched well in spring training, but it was just spring training. It doesn't matter how well you pitch in the spring if you can't get it done during the season. I would say send him back down to Louisville, but I really doubt that would do him any good. And I doubt any serious major league team would have any interest in him.

Second question is, how long is this skid going to last? A team that gets swept by the Pirates obviously has some big holes. And with Zambrano on the mound tomorrow against Josh Fogg, the odds are against the Redlegs.

Third, are the Reds ever going to start hitting the ball? Especially with runners in scoring position? God forbid they get at least one run with runners on and no outs. I've never seen a team strand so many runners on base. The sad part is, they've been doing this for as long as I can remember.

    Some random thoughts...

-I hate people that say "We should have won" or "Our guys played great today." Since when do you play for "your" team?

-I depsise the wave. Pay attention to the game instead of worrying about when it's your turn to stand up and look stupid.

-I don't really care for giveaways. It seems like you get a lot of fans in the park that are there for no other reason than to get a bobblehead or a t-shirt. I would rather go to a game with 10,000 true Reds fans than come to a packed house full of "fans" who don't know what they're talking about.

    -Jeff Brantley is entertaining.

-George Grande is boring, but the Creeper is great.

Until next time, God Bless America and God Bless Paul Bako.
