I just heard on sportscenter that the NFL fined Hines Ward for the hit on Rivers. Obviously the 'powers that be' think it was unnecessary roughness.
Personally, I am torn on this one. It looked pretty close to a helmet to helmet hit. Also, a normal and clean football hits does not break a mans jaw behind his facemask. Clearly some part of Hines' equipment got up and under Rivers helmet.
But on the other hand it did look like a clean hit to me when I was watching it at full speed. I guess I need a slow motion replay to decide conclusively.
However, it was unfair of you to compare that hit on Rivers to the hit on Polamalu. They were two totally different types of football plays. Wards hit was a blindside. Ced Benson and Polomalu were head to head collisions like two Ram's battering eachother. Each man knowing what he was getting himself into at the moment of impact. Rivers was blindsided. I'm not saying a clean blindside hit is bad, I'm just saying that it is unfair to compare a blindside to a head to head collision.
I think your wrong for blogging about how that was a clean hit. Yes, most people would want Hines Ward on their team, but as a Bengals fan you are NEVER supposed to admit you ever want a Steeler!
I lost some respect for you today C. Trent. I still enjoy your blogs and your insight, but you got this one wrong bro. Are you a secret Steeler fan? It would be different if we played the Colts yesterday and Rivers was blindsided by Wayne, but it's the damn Steelers! And for God's sake it was Hines Ward! I can't beleive you are supporting him on this one.
Maybe it was clean - Maybe it wasn't but the fact that you took Pitt's side on this one suprised the heck out of me. That's something i would expect from Egger, but not you C. Trent!
