    Dream 4/Dream 5

Friday, June 20, 2008, 02:19 PM MST [General]

I finally was able to watch the Dream 4 HDNet broadcast. I had been on road for work for 3 weeks so it was nice to spend an afternoon watching MMA at home. Here are the results:

    1. Shinya Aoki def. Katsuhiko Nagata via submission (gogoplata) - R1
    2. Alistair Overeem def. Tae Hyun Lee via KO - R1
    3. Ralek Gracie def. Alavutdin Gadzhiyev via submission (armbar) - R1
    4. Hideo Tokoro def. Darren Uyenoyama via unanimous decision
    5. Gegard Mousasi def. Yoon Dong Sik via unanimous decision
    6. Zelg Galesic def. Taiei Kin via TKO (injury) - R1
    7. Ronaldo Souza def. Jason "Mayhem" Miller  via unanimous decision
    8. Melvin Manhoef def. Kazushi Sakuraba via TKO (strikes) - R1

The Tokoro Uyenoyama fight was the fight of the night. The Aoki gogoplata was notable as well.

Also the drawing for matchups for Dream 5 was cool to watch as well. I am really happy with the matchups for the light weight tournament and I can't wait until July 21st to watch it. All 4 fighters are awesome and I think I am rooting for Uno, but I expect it to come down to Aoki vs Alvarez.

The matchups for Dream 5 are:

    Caol Uno vs. Shinya Aoki
    Tatsuya Kawajiri vs. Eddie Alvarez
    Winner of Uno-Aoki vs. Kawajiri-Alvarez
Norifumi "KID" Yamamoto vs. Joseph Benavidez
    Yoshihiro Akiyama vs. TBA
    Denis Kang vs. TBA

I am also looking forward to seeing Yamamoto fight. Should be a great night.
