As a lifelong Reds fan, I was never really a big Barry Larkin fan. I don't know why. I think it was his attitude, or I may have held his overpriced contract he landed at the end of his career, against him. I will be the first to admit, I don't have a good reason to dislike Larkin. That being said, one quick fix for the Reds would be to hire Barry Larkin as their hitting coach. I know the Reds have had a little over 482 hitting instructors over the last 5 seasons, but Larkin might be the right fit at the right time. Plus, he and Griffey are buds and Griffey and Dunn are buds, so maybe someone like Larkin can get through to these stubborn guys. This team lacks actual hitting. Larkin was a fantastic contact hitter. When they needed a bunt, he dropped one. When a hit to the right side of the infield was needed to score a run, that's what he did. He could even open up his swing and hit to the opposite field (did you hear that Dunn and Griffey, imagine that). I'm not sure, what, if anything, Larkin still does for the Nationals, but if he's available, I'd hire him as the hitting instructor. Plus, wouldn't that be cool since Lark goes into the Reds Hall of Fame this summer? That would be a great PR move and might inspire this woeful offense to start hitting. What do you think?

If Mario Soto can work with the pitchers and Bench can coach in spring training, then Larkin can certainly help our hitters! Chris in Cambridge |

Even better Larkin as Dusty's bench coach,George Foster hitting coach, and Eric Davis 3b coach.Three guys players would listen to. Kevin |

Agreed. I meant to bring that up on the show this week when I saw he was working with the Chinese National team. What a shame.
LanceHell, he could teach, hitting, fielding and baserunning to this team.
